I've been researching sport jets because I don't know much. I think those older low HP ones have absolete parts. I was thinking you need the 200. Are you calling a 90hp jet ski a sports jet? I thought sport jet was Mercury???

If you are building from scratch, I recommend a 4 stroke yamaha engine. There was a post wit some OEM units for sale a while ago.
The installation is a lot of work, so might as well start with the best components to make it worthwhile. Just my 2 cents.
Edit - If you can get the merc setup that cheap, then that counts for a lot too! Should be plenty of power, you will get 35MPH.

Well I wasn't fast enough....on to other things.
How hard to mate up a non-yamaha engine to a Yamaha pump?
I also saw a 900 tigershark for 1000 on a local CL

I think there is a shaft coupler on the yammie pump, so any engine could be hooked up.
You might want to PM PSG1. He had a Tigershark & did not have good luck with if, IIRC.
