    Experienced opions on my setup

14' Lund Fisherman from 1966. I fished for years with just a 35# thrust electric in back. It does limit your range for sure, and you have to keep a sharp eye on the weather, but it handled pretty stiff winds with ease. The big issue, as another poster said, is you're limited to about 3.5mph so...

    What is a Jon Boat?

I thought maybe it would be worth seeing if there are any "authoritative" definitions online. Not really. Of the dozens I looked through, all said small and flat bottomed. Most said lightweight. Some (about half, give or take) said square bow and stern. Fewer said specifically aluminum, others...

Routing starter cables to reloacted battery advise please.

Any issues with alternator charging that lithium battery? I considered that option for my 9.9 but since I couldn't find any information on it charging with the motor's alternator I went with a small motorcycle battery. Curious if you have solid info on working with the alternator or it's just...

    Front bench removal 14’ aluminum

If all you do is troll small lakes with an electric, don't worry about it-it'll be fine. If you've got a bigger motor and pound through waves at speed--don't do it.

Buy a new motor for old boat, or buy used boat and motor to replace.

1966 boat, 2022 outboard here. I'm not a boat nut (I'm a woodworking nut) but I think there are concepts applicable to all such things. There isn't right or wrong, but rather fit your personality and approach to the hobby. In woodworking, many people get caught up in the fun of having cool...

    Hello

When I was 3 my dad bought a 1966 Lund C-14 Fisherman--brand new. He named it "Maromist" using the first two letters of each of his four son's names. I learned to fish in it. I took my HS buddies fishing in it. My nieces learned to ski behind it. As my dad aged, I took him fishing in it. He...

    Towing with Smaller SUV

No problems with my 4cyl Outback towing my 14ft ancient Lund with two weeks of food and clothes and dog stuff packed inside. But that's carrying two people and at most 600lbs on the trailer. I guess another question is how you're towing? 10-30 mile hops between prairie lakes or 500 mile trips...

    closed cell foam floatation

You don't see too many people making solid state physics references so you've got to respond when you get the chance, eh?

    closed cell foam floatation

    Hexagonal close pack.

    closed cell foam floatation

I'm trying to think of what's wrong with this idea and not having any luck, unless something in the foam formulation might degrade the PETG of the bottle and lead to failure down the line.

    closed cell foam floatation

Blue (DuPont or Dow) and pink (Owens Corning) are both XPS foam and are both closed cell. Same chemicals, same process. Blue has a thin plastic film on both sides and pink doesn't, but the foam is the same for all practical purposes.

    Battery Boxes OR Trays?

If your battery is exposed a case can help reduce effects of UV on the actual battery enclosure, etc. A case can help prevent accidental shorting. Neither issue is very likely but worth considering depending on your setup.

    Fresh water question

Keep your motor(s) out of the water for sure. Look at your invasive species list. Depending on time of year you might get insect or or other eggs laid on it. Any cracks or crevices (my 60yo boat has riveted on strakes that have large gaps) are likely to become homes for things, both native and...

    Older Lund…WC14?

If this doesn't take you there directly, your specs are on page 21. https://www.lundboats.com/bcom/catalogs-and-brochures.displaypdf.json?pdfName=1989-Lund-Catalog.pdf&pdfPath=L2NvbnRlbnQvZGFtL2x1bmQvdGVjaG5pY2FsL2RvY3VtZW50cy8xOTg5LUx1bmQtQ2F0YWxvZy5wZGY=
