You are giving up a 1000 rpm's and that is where the motor makes its power. A bigger carb may get you a few more mph. Not worth the $185 to me. Could do that with a stainless prop and run in the correct rpm range.

Need to prop it where you are running close to max rpm for your motor at WOT. You are giving up a lot of power there and you are lugging the motor. Picked this up last nite. 2000 1648 sea ark. With a 2000 9.9 Johnson. Boat looks all most new. Had been kept inside. Paid $1700 for it. I think that was a fair price.

If you are talking new. $700 for the boat. $1000 for the trailer. $2000 plus for the motor. About $4000.

I would stay in the 6000 range. You want the boat loaded the way it will be used the majority of the time.
