This was supposed to be simple.

The reason for the circuit breaker is to protect the TM armature from burning up the windings if it gets tangled up in line or weeds. I use a 50 amp on my Minn Kota 55 lb TM. They say use a 60 amp for mine, but less is safer on a circuit breaker, and my motor pulls about 40 amps at full speed.

    1980 Evinrude 15hp pee hole

I use weed eater string to clear mine. It will bend with the water line, and won't puncture it!

What size (group #) battery for trolling motor?

I use an Interstate SRM-29 (210 min reserve cap.) to power a Minn Kota V2 Powerdrive with 55lbs of thrust (also the iPilot features) on a 1448 mod-v jon boat. It weighs about 61 lbs. I would estimate that I have trolled about 6-1/2 hours at varying speeds, and still had two (out of four) bars on...

    Full trottle

I'm not sure if you indicated that it died near full-throttle, but when I first got my 2007 Johnson, it would cut-off on me if I was alone in the boat and running wide open (if I had someone with me it was fine). What was happening, was the engine was over-revving, and cutting itself off (I...

Possibly found a boat. Need opinions.

Better to look at it this way: Someone already went to the trouble of taking the benches out for you...now all you have to do is mount some diamond-plate across the ribs, and put in a couple pedestal seats!

I like the idea of the dog up front for extra weight!

    Transom Questions

I couldn't agree more! I have mine bolted on exactly as novaman does. I saw the same thing happen when I was a kid...my dad's 10 HP Johnson "jumped" off the back of our jon boat! Luckily, he had a safety cable attached, but we still had to row back!

    Jon or semi v?

If I was you, I would get a modified-v jon boat. Once you put a boat on a trailer, you're gonna want to explore other lakes. The mod-v will give you a few more options (like fishing on slightly larger lakes, or staying out when the wind picks up). Mark my words, you can start out with an...

New trolling motor, i-pilot worth it?

I was out last Sunday in gusts from 15 to 20 miles per. I was very surprised how well the spotlock held me. 5'...maybe not, but once the boat was into the wind, I would say it kept me within 15'.

    67 evinrude not pumping water?

Oh, yeah...I googled a couple photos...it's not like the new ones. Sorry, I my bad!

    67 evinrude not pumping water?

I'm not familiar with '67 Evinrudes, but my 2007 Johnson did that to me last year. It turned out that the water pump indicator was clogged. The water stream only shows that the pump is working...the water that comes out the "pee-hole" doesn't circulate through the engine...in other words, if...

New trolling motor, i-pilot worth it?

It's worth it to me! I troll alot, and while I will have to record new tracks as the water level changes (I fish on a reservoir), or the walleyes move to different depths, I will still be able to use the tracks for at least two, or three weeks at a time. The spotlock on mine works well, if there...

    50+ inches too big?

The bow-mounted TM on my 1448 mod-v is 48" long...it seems the perfect size to me...I like having the head of the motor high enough so I can see it when I'm steering. I keep the prop about 12" below the water-line.

Which fuel stabilizer do you use?

I use Stabil, and only use non-ethanol gas.
