The reason for the circuit breaker is to protect the TM armature from burning up the windings if it gets tangled up in line or weeds. I use a 50 amp on my Minn Kota 55 lb TM. They say use a 60 amp for mine, but less is safer on a circuit breaker, and my motor pulls about 40 amps at full speed.

I use weed eater string to clear mine. It will bend with the water line, and won't puncture it!

Better to look at it this way: Someone already went to the trouble of taking the benches out for you...now all you have to do is mount some diamond-plate across the ribs, and put in a couple pedestal seats!

I couldn't agree more! I have mine bolted on exactly as novaman does. I saw the same thing happen when I was a kid...my dad's 10 HP Johnson "jumped" off the back of our jon boat! Luckily, he had a safety cable attached, but we still had to row back!

I was out last Sunday in gusts from 15 to 20 miles per. I was very surprised how well the spotlock held me. 5'...maybe not, but once the boat was into the wind, I would say it kept me within 15'.

The bow-mounted TM on my 1448 mod-v is 48" long...it seems the perfect size to me...I like having the head of the motor high enough so I can see it when I'm steering. I keep the prop about 12" below the water-line.

I use Stabil, and only use non-ethanol gas.
