Thanks. Guess I just learned something. :)

    Lowrance Elite 5 Questions

No its not a fuse. Its called an inline filter. Just not sure what it filters. I just mean running them off the same battery but from different post on the same battery. Thanks Huh? Do you have a photo of that filter? If it is a filter that came with your unit, that's something new from...

Navionics worth it in Lowrance Elite 4?

As long as your card has the latest update, it will show the same stuff as the app. The issues with Elite are mainly with Navionics Platinum, I have had no issues with Navionics Gold. But as a sidenote, when going fast (30+ knots) the Elite has problems with keeping up on the charts. This is due...

    Lowrance Elite 5 Questions

The old Elite 5 DSI does not have the regular 2D-sonar, just Downscan (imaging). Some think that's ok, but I preferr 2D when looking for fish and Downscan when looking at structure. So it depends on your use and what you like. :)

    Lowrance Elite 5 Questions

If you are refering to the litle red plastic box with one wire at each end that came with your Lowrance, that's not a filter, but a fuse. Sometimes you can connect your ff to the TM-battery and sometimes you can not.... Basicly you just have to try and see what happens. It's really important...

    Lowrance Elite 5 Questions

It's worth mentioning that the Elite series has gone trough a major upgrade, and the older versions are not even close to the new ones. So just make sure those that are on sale are in fact the new models, not the old ones. The new ones are called Elite HDI, has the same 2D-sonar as the more...

Navionics worth it in Lowrance Elite 4?

Personally I think it would. But if you have a smartphone with the aprox same screensize, you could give that a try before buying the chip. The webapp woun't use your phones GPS, but it will give you an idea what to expect. https://navionics.com/en/webapp

    Boat full of ice!!!

Living where I do (Norway) I'm pretty used to things getting covered in ice and snow. 8) I agree with Kismet, if you don't have a heated garage just leave it as it is and let the problem work itself out. I guess you have already learned that a cover is a good idea, I use a cheap one supported...

    Transducer question

It's been a while since I looked at this unit, but from what I remember you have dual frequensy OR dual beam depending on your tranceduser. The double frequensy one is 50/200 kHz with coneangles of 45/10 degrees according to Garmins way of measurring coneangle. The double beam is 83/200 kHz with...

    Making your own depthcharts (contours)

A litle update to this thread: Lowrance has just launched a new version of their Elite 4 model, the Elite 4 HDI. This model can be used for collecting data for depthcharts, so their cheapes model for this sort of use is now 299,- Navico has also upgraded their own mapping-service, Insight...

Anyone video tape their fishing at times?

It happens. :) Popperfishing for perch: https://youtu.be/2UwkOLx7sIE Halibut: https://youtu.be/vg_ZVj_aw08 Just bought a cheapish UV-camera for my downriggerweight, so hopefully 2014 will give me film of a trout attacking my trolled lure as well. Time will show.

    Lowrance Elite 7 HDI

If we are to be really precise, the HDS Touch has StructureScan (Downscan and Sidescan) integrated, so for those units you "only" need the LSS-ducer to have full Steicturscan. If one just want's downscan with HDS Touch, a simpler (and cheaper) option would be to use the 83/200/455/800 or...

    Lowrance Elite 7 HDI

Sorry to hear that. I guess you have checked your electrical system for powerdrops?

So who leaves their boat in the water for extended periods?

Sounds a lot like the algea I get on my boat in freshwater here in Norway. But this stuff comes off quite easily, I just swipe over the hull with a cloth and rinse off with water. But whatever you do, make sure you do it right after retreving the boat from the water, if it dries up it's like...

    Lowrance Elite 7 HDI

For really slow speed, an HDS with the Point-1 antenne and compass (heading sensor) is the best option. (At a price though) The 2D-sonar in the Elite-7 and the new Elite-5 are the same as in the HDS-series, and that is very good. The HDI is basicly a slightly downsized version of the...
