I hope nothing has happened, and he's just off fishing or something like that.

Thanks for asking. Doing great. We are on a long out-of-country vacay. No fishing but I did watch a guy fishing from the bank in Cherbourgh France. I was going to offer advice but in the interest of international relations decided not to (haha). We are currently on our way to Malta on a cruise ship. Going to spend four days in Sicily after the cruise. Then I will have a lot of catching up to do (and weight to lose).

Fun trip but I do miss getting out on the boat.

Again, thanks for asking.

Does the cruise ship have rod holders?

I'm baaack! And dealing with jet lag. Wide awake this morning at 3 am.

No rod holders. In fact, one of the "prohibited" items along with things like explosives, drugs, or firearms is fishing rods.
Yep, those fishing rods can be deadly ! Might possibly overtake the entire ship with one!!

I would not want to be caught with a dock demon anywhere! haha
I bought my toddler one earlier this year because it was cheaper than buying one of the Disney character combos. It's the right size and I figure it will last just as long, or longer than the Disney ones. Her idea of fishing is dropping a casting lure in the water and reeling it up though.

Out of curiosity, why don't you like them? Zebco has traditionally been a decent entry level brand. I wouldn't want to use one for casting, but it seems like it would be ok for drop shotting live bait or jigs. The little that I have played with it, it would appear to be a decent under the seat or saddle bag rig.

Aw, nothing against Zebco and I may not know what a Dock Demon actually is. I thought a Dock Demon was a spin cast reel on a 3' rod. Can't see using one myself. Though in context of a cruise ship you might be on to something.

You have it right. It's a toddler sized spin cast combo designed for use in tight spaces (like a boat dock). Definitely not ideal for being on the open water or casting any distance. I do good to get 20-30ft out of it with a casting weight.
