Picked this up for $150 from the book of faces, owner thought it was a 10 but it's a 12. I've got a bill of sale from the last registered owner but it's not been on the water since 1991.

I'd like to make it legal but I need to find out what it is first. I'll need to know the basics to register it. Seems like a solid boat, I was looking for a 69 sears like dad had when I was a kid but the price was to good. Started cleaning and stripping the old paint off today, cannot find a maker or HIN anywhere.

It's cleaning up nicely, I'm going to strip it to bare metal and replace the transom. Will probably just restore it but if I could find the right aluminum side console I may hot rod it a bit.

Another question, what is the bracket thsts on the front of all of its seats?

You should be able to look it up using the VA numbers on the front. It's free in Texas but it looks like Virginia requires you to register for the service and pay a $1.25 fee.

This is the site that keeps popping up: https://vi.virginiainteractive.org/vi/premium-dgif.shtml

I read them as VA32487 but I'm not super confident in the second and last numbers

The steps you have to go through to register a boat, trailer, motor, license in VA is insane. They want you to fill out a pdf and email 😆 I'll do it if I have to but I will not enjoy the process.

Here's the number.

Well I got all but the last one right, not too bad for gestimation lol.

I saw the link for the pdf form but I didn’t investigate further since it wouldn’t do me much good as a Texas resident. Unfortunately, without a HIN# or a capacity plate, it’s really hard to identify a boat based solely on the hull.

I've identified lots of for sale boats by googling pictures of some builder specific parts. Sometimes just a handle shape on the back will help.
I just bought a Valco bay runner 16, and was able to look up information on it before the long drive to see it.

Have at it then lol. My Google-fu is based around Google circa 2006-2015. I don't understand how the AI or reverse image engines work.
