    Transom Tie Downs

I'm using BoatBuckles and have been very satisfied with their ease of use and performance. I purchased a set of polyester protectors so metal makes no contact with hull. Only negative so far....I don't like that they have to be stored when not in use, but it's just a minor inconvenience. It...

    SCREWED

Sonny, sorry to hear of your situation. I am glad no one was physically hurt by the storm. As already mentioned, kudos to you for talking it in stride and getting to repairs ASAP. May you and your family Stay Safe!

Deciding between two boats, G3 185 VF and Alumacraft 185 Trophy

I recently purchased a new '23 Tracker PG V16 SC. Heck, I thought $27K OTD was high! I understand depreciation very well. I plan to keep my boat for many, many years. It's NOT a financial investment; it's an investment in personal enjoyment, ease of use, reliability, and FUN! I saved and...

    Too hot to fish

SoCal temps in the high 90s-low 100s since June. These temps are almost everyday. It’s desert temps, so mostly dry heat, although we have had some high humidity in the last few weeks. Humidity is the worse! Go out at 7am and off lake by 12pm. Looking forward to Fall and cooler temps.

How many of you enjoy a "Beater Boat?"

I can relate to all boats....older, well used, show pieces, and beaters. I purchased my first new boat, a Pro Line 22 WAC back in 1998. Great boat and fished saltwater for several years. All other boats (except for my current new one) were 10-30 years old, but well maintained. Owned 10-15...

My new boat would you use this fuel tank

I prefer plastic for corrosion reasons. I've used them for years and never had one crack or split. The metal ones are nice for nostalgia and keeping things original....but for practical purposes, IMO, plastic is preferred.

Looking to purchase a new Truck....what have you purchased?

Purchased a NEW 2023 GMC 3500HD, 6.6L gas and 6 speed auto. Crew, 4x4, short bed, White, and a few packages. This truck was difficult to find...as I did not want a diesel, and I did not want the expensive options (ex. leather, sunroof, etc). The 2500 would have worked just fine, but this...

Looking to purchase a new Truck....what have you purchased?

Sticking with gas. Update: Owner sold the camper the same day, just after I saw it. That’s ok. I found another one. He confirmed that he would honor the $30K price. Plus he’ll include the Torklift camper tie down brackets that are already on the truck. Again, 2016 F-250 XLT, 4x4, 6.2L gas...

Looking to purchase a new Truck....what have you purchased?

I'm looking very closely at a 2016 F-250 4X4 Crew with 6.2L and 6 speed with 48K miles. Original owner who purchased new....very solid and reliable drivetrain. Found one that a guy is willing to include in a package deal with a pop up truck camper (same owner who also purchased it new) that I...

Looking to purchase a new Truck....what have you purchased?

Just sold my beloved 2003 Ford F350 2WD, V10 with 8300o miles. Ran great and I took very good care of it. However it is 20 years old. But now that I'm retired I have an itch for a new or newer Truck....just like the new boat I recently purchased!! So, I am at a crossroads on my...

    Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?

This has been a great informative thread for those interested in Lithium batts for our TMs. I am now considering Epoch, TimeUSB, and VMAX. I'll be running a MK Terrova 24V, 80# TM that states 56amp max draw. Tracker 16' SC (60hp) with common on board gear, troll with 1-3 people aboard, at...

    Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?

I’m considering upgrading my 12v TM to a 24V Terrova. I was set on two 12V deep cycle batteries due to their relatively low cost and great dependability. Obviously they are about 65# each. What calculations did you use to determine that two 50ah lithiums are sufficient? I’ve read about...

Where do you store your boat registration while out on the water?

I use small plastic (like ammo boxes) boxes that are waterproof. One box for first aid kit and one box for spare drain plug, small parts, and registration. One other box for other misc items.

Outboard Mounting Bolts - No washers on Transom Bracket Side?

Decided, as DaleH pointed out, to install the washers to prevent scraping/damage to bracket from hex heads digging into the alum bracket. Although it doesn’t call for washers on Merc install procedures for this year / model motor, I’ll feel better once installed. It’s my OCD!! Since the motor...
