Advice for removing pour foam with wire wheel

Thank you for mentioning that! Discretion is needed. Yes, the foam is structural in certain boats and in certain places. Especially in newer, thinner-skinned boats. In those places, pour foam is required. In places where there had been no foam, I like to use stacked sheet foam along...

    Long or short shaft outboard

Long shaft. You will never get on plane with a short shaft unless it's a tunnel hull

    Traveling with boat in tow

^^^THIS^^^ SHOP for insurance! I started out with Boat US insurance, and after a couple of years, they started jacking up the rate, so I went with Erie and then Travelers. All of them were great for years, but then they went up. I went back to Boat US, and they went up again. Now, I...

What have you done to your Tin Boat today?

Yesterday, I decided to make a better mount for my Livescope. Previously, I made one using a shaft and clamp base from a trolling motor. I spray painted it silver to look "factory"... It worked great, but when we moved, it tilted up across the boat, blocking a big area. For long runs, it...

    Aluminum v boat paint

I agree with this. Some manufactures will tell you the paint they use. I think Crestliner uses a 2-part epoxy paint over their etching primer. It will usually wear down but never peel off, unless the boat is badly corroded. Factory paint is VERY good stuff and makes the best primer ever.

Repairing stress cracks in a riveted aluminum boat

I know that I'm butting in, but I don't drill my rivets out much anymore. I use a razor sharp chisel and a nail set. (or small punch) You take the chisel and lay the beveled side flat against the hull, so it doesn't dig. Then you tap it with a hammer and slice or pop the head off the rivet...

    Traveling with boat in tow

OOOF! Some tough stories there. It really depends on where we are going, how long we are staying and how many of us there are. Our last trip, the boat went to the hotel with us, electronics, Li battery and trolling motor taken off, and the boat backed against a wall, locked to the truck...

Best way to charge and maintain batteries?

I think you are right. It's nice having the freedom to make choices that work for our own circumstances.

    Difficult Stern/Bottom Repairs?

That's awesome, way to go! Solid rivets are the stuff, once you get comfortable using them. Glad you didn't give up on the old girl. Post some pics of your repair and update the project as you see fit. Congrats!

    Does this stay on?

Must be a Suzuki thing... That diagram was very helpful. Your new prop may or may not need the spacer, but I would definitely keep it for future use, if you decide to not use it.

    Aluminum v boat paint

I agree with Freeisforme, except that I always test an area with the paint I am using. I put some heavily on the EDGE of the painted areas and let it soak for a few minutes, and then check it. If the old paint sticks hard and isn't affected - PERFECT. That is probably the factory paint...

Advice for removing pour foam with wire wheel

In the past, I've done something for floatation that I personally like, rather than skip it... I use 2 liter and gallon bottles with the caps tightly screwed on, along with fill-foam from a can. I fill the area with capped bottles and shots of fill foam around and between them to lock them...

    TimeUSB 100AH 12.8V Pro LiFePO4 Battery Review

That sounds right to me. 50A should be more than enough. .02V difference sounds like you got good batteries. I've been very happy with TimeUSB's quality control. I'm up to 8 of them total, including ones I got for my nephew. He is a bass-fishing nut, and he is going to really test...

I have a 1991 bass tracker pro need help finding fuse box

Breakers are just as cheap, are waterproof and rarely fail. Having them accessible is very helpful if you ever have an issue. They sell a variety pack on Amazon, but I mostly use 5 and 10A breakers, with a couple of 15 or 20A thrown in, so I tend to buy separately.

Advice for removing pour foam with wire wheel

I have removed a lot of foam. The best tool I have found is a long, flexible cake knife, the one with the tiny serrations, like a Ginsu knife. Cuts it like butter and doesn't make a mess. Then, a flexible drywall knife will pop the rest out. It goes so fast, I don't even remember the...

Best way to charge and maintain batteries?

Oh, and for what it's worth, I would recommend that you get one sooner than later, with inflation supposedly coming to the lithium market soon... That $170 price for a 100AH on Amazon day may not happen again. I decided to go ahead and buy two more, mainly for the solar backup system I just...

Best way to charge and maintain batteries?

I think you will like them. And since they are stored at 30-50%, no need to charge after a trip, unless you are going again soon. That takes a little getting used to, believe it or not. Back to the maintainer, I am guessing it's a lot colder where you are than here. I lived near Cincinnati...

Best way to charge and maintain batteries?

Yes, the AGM are more than the TimeUSB. That was a big factor. I like AGM a lot, and they have given me long service life. My fav batteries ever are the yellow-top, dual-purpose Optima AGMs, as they can do everything. When mine died after almost 10 years, I looked to replace and YIKES...

I have a 1991 bass tracker pro need help finding fuse box

Hmm... Nothing wrong with inline, just more work to find. I recently replaced the switch panel in my big boat with a nice, 8-switch with breakers. I cut out a ton of spaghetti and it's nice and neat now. I should have done that 10 years ago! Jshipley, If no problems, then no rush, but...
