    Towing with outboard

On a flat service, I’m certain that your leaf springs could never compress to the point of allowing your skeg to hit! If you ever did have such a severe bump, I think your skeg would be of least concern compared to other potential damage. Now, driving across a swale/ditch/depression could be an...

    Towing with outboard

I have a 12’ v-hull with a 9.9 Yamaha on a jack plate. I tow with with the outboard in place, locked in the down position and no transom saver. I think this is the best arrangement IF - 1) your outboard skeg is further off the road service than the bottom of your trailer axle. 2) your trailer...

Searching for a Starcraft transom cap

I’m not looking for perfection or exact original, but I’d like for both sides to match and look decent. I think I’m going to see if my local fab shop can weld repair the cracked piece, now that I’ve learned that cast aluminum is weldable… if that doesn’t work, I found a nice set of aftermarket...

    2x4 Bunk Covering

I live in west Florida and mostly boat in the Gulf. I think the best combo for harsh weather and saltwater is cedar 2 x 4’s and quality polymer bunk skids. Mine are from a Florida based company - Surfix. Super slick and easy to install…

I forgot to add that it can be positioned in an easily accessible position on the outside of the transom while using the boat. But even while stored in the inside, it’s still easy to grab from the water…

I’ve mounted an aluminum single pole sport dive Garelick ladder on my transom. I have a jack plate, so I have the room to store the ladder on the inside of my transom, along with a boat hook.
