    Rear mount stick steer?

Interesting concept. Thinking of mounting the controls on the bench face or the side of the boat? Be cool if mounted out of the way. 14 ft boat going to pound in the waves no matter what you do however I agree it's felt less in the stern. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

Stuck throttle on Evinrude 15, pull start

You can't move the throttle if it's in gear. Maybe check that part of the linkage to make sure it's operating correctly before digging too deep. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    Riveted Boats - Pros/Cons Leaky?

I have a 16' Naden (riveted) likely made in the 70's that lived its former life as a resort rental. Doesn't leak a drop. My first riveted boat that didn't, however they are usually easy to tighten up and repair. I prefer tiller steer for the type of waters and fishing I do. Lund, StarCraft and...

current used boat prices? Help me understand what I am looking at

Yeah the prices are crazy. They are coming down from the height of craziness I noticed but still quite high. New prices however, have only gone up to reflect materials cost increases. If I was in a position to afford it, I'd buy new. Thankfully I already own an old boat and I'm hanging on to it...

Attaching Seat Swivels to a foamed bench seat

I use clamp on swivels. Works mint for me. The kind I got from bass pro have a little angle bracket that screws into the bench sides to hook the clamp on base over to prevent it from slipping off Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    Boat Project Update!!

I think that's a brand new boat and you're cheating! Just kidding. Man it does look that good though. Bet you're looking forward to getting it in the water. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

Cracked ribs in large boat questions

Anything is better than nothing. The more material you can get alongside the better. The top strap will give lots of strength when the side wants to flex out, but not as much when it wants to flex inward. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

70’s Starcraft 14’ Seafarer “By Golly”

Some people use led light strips below the gunwale. That actually looks pretty cool as well Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

70’s Starcraft 14’ Seafarer “By Golly”

That's exactly how I mounted my motor. I had a bow light I was going to put on but now I think I'll install a base and use a stowaway. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    '80s (?) Alumacraft 14' conversion

I mount mine on the transom. Since I like to use it at speed as a depth finder to try and avoid surprises. Mine is a retractable mount as I beach my boat on rocky shores often and I can raise it up to protect it. I fish primarily bass, pike, walleye so I am mostly casting away from the boat so...

    Max hp

The answer is that depends.. If you want to fish those 10hp lakes, I guess 10 HP is what you should put on it. You didn't say what kind of boat or 2 stroke vs 4 stroke. New or older. Older hulls are rated by hp and not engine weight. For example an older 14 footer may take a 25 2 stroke just...

    Fixing screw holes....best practice?

There are several different fixes here depending on expectations. The premium number one is having it Tig welded. A good welder can have that fixed up in no time and slick it off with a blending disc. Second would be the brazing rods which work mint but like welding, it is a skill. I'm a welder...

Another 20/25hp to 30/35hp Evinrude Johnson Conversion

They are great motors. The 521cc is about as bullet proof as you can get. I've had several from 20, 25 and 35. My favorite was the 93 25hp. It had electric start. I wish my current 35 did although it starts easily especially when warm. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    Sealing leaky rivets and seams?

I had my 16' Naden on sawhorses in the garage. Middle of winter and no hose. I dumped buckets of water in it and tilted it one way then the other and looked for leaks. Found a couple and rebucked and rechecked. There has been 3 fishing seasons since and it still doesn't leak. I'll take luck over...
