    Bench Seat Ideas

I made these seats from 1x12 rough pine and ran them through a planer, sand and 3 coats of spar urethane with a light 200gr sand between coats. They held up well. I think how you store a boat is as important as how the wood is protected. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    Bench Seat Ideas

I would imagine if you coated the wood with spar urethane or epoxy that corrosion shouldn't be an issue. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    Lund Tyee 5.3 Questions

I don't know where you are but here in Ontario Canada that hull alone would be worth the asking price or more. Trailer for that boat would be another $1000 so in my mind you can't go wrong even if the motor is scrap iron. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    Bench Seat Ideas

Why don't you get a couple clamp on bases and put folding seats on them. Makes a day on the water so much better. My bases I picked up at bass pro, came with little angle iron brackets to keep them from slipping. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    Alumacraft Transom Cap

Yeah a lot of these old boats weren't built with transom replacement in mind. Sometimes surgery is required. I've had to cut caps off before. Just costs a bit to have a local welder put it back together. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    Tracker vs Lund

Up to 50% on the hull. Lunds are very good boats although the prices people ask, you'd think they were smelted from gold. I have no personal experience with tracker vees. There are other hulls of that vintage that are very good as well. A Naden if you can find one, Sea Nymph is another. I'm sure...

    Adjustable transducer mount

I saw that and thought about it. Wouldn't work for a transom mount I don't think, because the transducer is shown 90° to the way the arm pivots. Perhaps the transducer can be mounted any which way but my other concern was it ability to hold it down at plane. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    15hp for a 14' boat?

14 is how long the boat is. 32 or 36 is the width of the floor at the chine. These designations are for flat and mod v jonboats. I'm guessing the beam of a 1436 would be roughly 52-54 inches Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

    Adjustable transducer mount

It's a hair low all the way down and the transducer throws a little water up while running on plane. I was thinking of adding a stop screw once I get it dialed in. Although if I flip the lever up while running, it stops splashing and still reads the depth just fine. Sent from my CLT-L04 using...

    Adjustable transducer mount

They do make clamp on transducer mounts that would be easy to take home with you. I made mine because I beach my boat often Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

Budget drop in decks and floors

Got a chance to lake test my deck today. held up just fine and carried the weight of the battery and my fishing buddy. The deck did squeak a bit so I may try stapling some foam or fabric to the edges but otherwise I'm happy with it and it will lift out easily when I need it to. Sent from my...

    Almaloy Brazing Rods...

A lot of times you can fix a leaky rivet by simply rebucking. I always try this first. Brazing aluminum is also a good fix. It does require a bit of skill and I recommend trying it out on some scrap before your boat. Careful with the heat because most rivets will melt faster than the base...

    1956 evinrude fastwin 15

Lean seize or overheating are possible. Check to see if it's pumping water. Also feel the engine after it has been running for a few minutes. You should be able to hold your hand on it. If it's hotter than you may have a bad water pump or thermostat or a blockage of some sort. If this checks...
