While I found this on their site I couldn't find any batteries from a variety of sources (including the Tracker Marine branded ones sold by Bass Pro) which claimed to have been tested for compliance with it yet. UN 38.3 is just a shipping standard, at least as far as the Ampere Time batteries I...

    Angle aluminum

I dealt with the same issue you're trying to address, but I was working with aluminum decking, so I had scrap pieces that I could bend into angles and attach to the side of the boat, then mount my decking stringer angles atop them so they span the boat level and support the deck. I'll post a...

Generalizing "Lithium battery" is almost like walking into a hardware store and asking for a "screw", it's a greatly over-simplified reference. Lithium battery chemistry varies significantly, some use cobalt or other metals to achieve better discharge or storage capacity parameters. These other...

Two things going on here: 1st - Wattage (work/power) = Voltage x Amperage. Their motors are designed to draw a fixed amount of amperage which the engineers based on the anticipated voltage drop experienced by lead acid batteries. Without this drop they still draw the same current, but receive...

I've been using the Ampere Time 50 amp-hour one from Amazon for a few months now. Amazing how lightweight it is. Time will tell if it holds up, but so far so good. The 50lb weight reduction in my 12' made itself known the first time I fired up the outboard and went to make a run up the river.

    Hardcore swimbaiters?

There's a guy on our CT forum that seems to throw those things almost exclusively. He finds more 7lb+ class fish in CT/RI/MA than anyone else I've ever heard of. My shoulder hurts just at the thought of chucking those things all day for 3 bites, but they're definitely 3 bites you want if they...

2002 1436 Alumacraft and floatation pods

I'm not re-reading 2 pages worth of discussion to find a detail - if the pods are filled with foam you won't want to use the aluminum welding rods as the aluminum all around the patch site will heat up and foul up the foam. I wouldn't use them anyway as the aluminum has to be heated to the...

2002 1436 Alumacraft and floatation pods

I did miss both the size and that they're stainless, the image you posted looked like they were aluminum. As long as you're able to set them all without breaking the tool you should be fine, they're not prone to having the threads strip out as is the case with aluminum ones. I used stainless...

2002 1436 Alumacraft and floatation pods

I think you misunderstood my reference to angle in my 1st comment- I was referring to attaching extruded angle (such as 1"x1" american std. available from Home Depot) to the sides of the pods to allow attachment to the transom, not for adapting them to the deadrise pitch of the transom.

2002 1436 Alumacraft and floatation pods

The threads on aluminum rivnuts are very weak and will strip out. It's very difficult to set them without the threads stripping, let alone attach a fastener to them. Each of those pods (when fully submerged) displace about a cubic foot of water (based on the addition of 118lbs of buoyancy per...

2002 1436 Alumacraft and floatation pods

However you finally decide to attach them, I would set them so the underside is at least an inch above the bottom plane of the boat so they're not creating drag when you're full out on the motor. As for attachment methodology, I would use closed end blind rivets and sealant to attach angle to...

    Replacement Battery Cables

Those are awesome - I'd wanted something like that for my 12' to be able to disconnect the starter wire at the motor rather than the battery.

    Subfloor - Drainage - Questions - 1448

I poured foam between the ribs in my 16', but I lined the cavities with painter's plastic and put a round object along the center of the bottom of the cavity so water could still drain from the sides of the boat to the center. There are pictures on my build thread. If I were to do it again I'd...

    Choosing a trolling motor battery

I put my $$$ where my mouth is (or, erm, fingers are? modern times are so confusing adapting old sayings.) Either way - I ordered a 50amp Ampere Time LiFePO4 from Amazon after reading more reviews of different brands than I can remember. They seemed to consistently get positive comments from...

    86 Yamaha 25

It sounds as though you're right in the neighborhood of where you can expect to end up with that motor. I topped out with my 1436 at 25mph running a 13P prop. A friend running a new 4 stroke with the tilt & trim was able to squeeze 28mph out of his on a 1448, but without that adjustment ability...

    Choosing a trolling motor battery

My how things change in 4 years. Lithium batteries are down to less than $300 for a 50 amp-hour battery...given the weight savings alone they're attractive - ditching the issues of memory and the need for proper trickle charging to avoid sulfating is awesome...faster charge times, no capacity...

    Resetting hog, worms, etc

You can take a strand of jig weed guard and a fly tying bobbin and add that bait keeper to your XPS hooks, I do that with a lot of my hooks that are going to be wearing soft plastics.

    Designing a bow plate?

A little de-natured alcohol on a rag and that permanent marker mark won't be so permanent. Your end result looks nice and clean.

    Boat seats

Correct, the 200 is just a seat, but you can lean against it standing as well.
