    A Few Night Trips

Pretty much confirmed my suspicion tonight, put the boat in a little after 6:45 with the power company reporting they would be drawing water from 5 to 9. Ran a bunch of spots that we marked fish down deep Saturday night and found them in the same general areas actively feeding while the dam was...

    A Few Night Trips

Been out on a local power reservoir in the dark twice now in the last few weeks, each night leaving around 9pm and getting back to the trailer around 1am. Power station stopped running water somewhere between 7pm and 8pm with similar river flows each night (~850cfs natural flow). Bites didn't...

    1985 Tracker III Restore/Conversion

Bow deck framing done. Big push to finish it over the holiday weekend...fingers crossed that the weather will hold out for it. Progress shot before all the final ribs were riveted:

    Grizzly 1548?

Salesman doesn't know what he's talking about. HP rating is a function of the dimensions of the boat/transom and the steering layout. The transom could be built of balsa wood and it wouldn't change anything.

    BPS Pro Qualifier 2

On the dual brake reels I like to be able to cast without wind using only the centrifugal brakes, figuring out however many it takes then setting it with one fewer and using the magnetic to fine tune it from there and adjust for wind as needed. IE - if I can cast a jig with no backlash and the...

How Many Reel Mfg's Are There Really?

Omoto is the outsourced manufacturer for the ABU round frame reels that aren't made in Sweden right?

    Propeller

Would dragging a std. drift sock work for you guys or is that too likely to tangle up in the prop/ no good for other reasons I'm not aware of? I ask because they're inexpensive and easy to store on board when you're not using them.

Not a tinny, but home built 20 ft. lands 1000 lb marlin

Fish died mid-fight...sad, but I guess that helped alleviate some of the danger of catching such a large fish on so small a boat.

    Is a 2007 Johnson 9.9 4-stroke a good motor

They've been owned by Bombardier since 2001 - all they did was kill the "Johnson" brand label and sell motors only under the "Evinrude" name after 2007, the manufacturing operations continued as before. Brand names are more gimmick than anything these days.

    Motor for alumacraft mv1648 ncs

That new yamaha 4 stroke 25 is awesome. You can get it with a power tilt/trim and it's still very lightweight. I borrowed a friend's 1448 that wore one of those on the back and it performed fantastic. So quiet compared to my 2 stroke!

    Weedless wacky hooks

Works fine tied on, doesn't look/feel any different with the heat shrink, so I expect it will work as well as any other plastic weed guard. You're not casting it into milfoil and working it down, but it keeps the hook point clear used on a neko rig nicely. You can use the steel weed guard wires...

    Weedless wacky hooks

Even easier, I just tested it and you can do it with heat shrink a lot faster

    tm troubleshooting

I recently used an Edge on a 1448 and you're right, the first two speeds are borderline worthless on anything but glass-calm water. Wind was the issue for me, no different than fighting current though in the end. The digitally adjusted variable speed units are better, the useless range in the...

    tm troubleshooting

Not sure how much water current you're dealing with. On flat water a 55# was more than enough for my old 18' fiberglass with a 150 on the back, but I suspect in current it might not have had enough power.

    New floor plans

If you add angle reinforcement so you don't have unsupported spans > 12"~14" I see no reason why you couldn't use 1/4" ply, especially if your primary goal is weight savings. Just be sure to take extra care to seal it well so it is less prone to warping.

    New floor plans

You don't need the square tubing, angle will work fine

    Alumacraft 1436LT Conversion

Little update, added a spotlight to the front and a cigarette lighter socket to plug it into so I can tuck it away out of the way when it's not needed.

    1985 Tracker III Restore/Conversion

I mentioned connecting vertical braces so the load bears on the ends of the brace and not by applying sheer pressure on the side of the rivet on someone else's thread and finally got a few pictures of what i was trying to describe. The anchor of the brace has some sharpie marking on it...
