Help!! 1999 Bass Tracker Pro Team

Hi, If there are any homes under construction nearby, the windows and sliding doors often come boxed, and enormous pieces of cardboard go into the dumpster. Happy diving!

    Sealing leaky rivets and seams?

Hi, I agree with the pro-rerivet group. If there aren't that many, I think its worth drilling out any that are suspect and bucking in new ones. This affords the chance to clean up the outer surface so there's a good seal. I bought a sack of rivets all as long as the longest ones I needed, and...

    Whats these for any guesses

Odd. That piece on the transom doesn't accomplish anything, and should be removed or trimmed if there's any motor position that could bring them into contact. Along the sides, it seems the forward ends could have been swept up to perform better at keeping things dry during sharp turns. Looks...

    Attaching Cleats

Bolts! With big backer washers and lockwashers! Failed epoxy is what let the panels fall from the tunnel ceiling in Boston and kill that poor woman years ago. You can't foresee all of the possible circumstances that could have you relying on those cleats. Rafting up, anchoring, towing, etc...

    Lower Unit Stiffness

it is possible that the vanes on the new impeller are all bent the wrong way. This would result from turning the driveshaft the wrong direction during installation. There's more resistance to rotation when this occurs. Don't know any way to check except by disassembly. Good luck

    Repairing pinholes in hull

Hi, If you've got an air compressor, get a cheapy air hammer and a riveting snout. Get some shorty rivets and washers and a helper. Drill out the holes to the rivet size, get your buddy to buck the inside with a ball-peed hammer head, and hammer them from the outside. Maybe experiment on a...

So, Shakedown cruise this morning. Hull is tight as a drum. Motor idles sweetly and accelerates strong. Steering is tight and responsive. Need to adjust the “throw” in the shift cable to improve movement into reverse. I’ll mount some guides to help get back onto the trailer a bit more...

Thanks! I think it’s a real looker too. I agree that the motor is too modern for the overall appearance. I’m thinking an Evinrude 35 from ‘56 or ‘57 would really be an improvement. I’ll be keeping an eye out during the off season. Thanks for the tip about Cadillac. I’ll do some research.

You’re right. If I keep that Johnson I’ll probably paint it grey. I suspect that 28hp will be fine for our boating style. We don’t pull skiers or tubes anymore, and though it’s fun to go fast, we’re more into a quiet cruise that doesn’t spill the beverages. That reminds me. I need to get cup...

Hi All, Thought I might post a few photos of my project. This is a 14' all aluminum runabout with 2 cockpits. There's no pass-thru from the 1st to the second cockpit. I bought her completely stripped. There was no flotation, the transom plywood was mush, and someone had slapped on a red and...

    Boat I.D.

Hi again, Figured it might be worth another shot. Here are photos of the boat I'm trying to identify. 13'-10" LOA.

    Boat I.D.

Hi, I figure that something like that has happened. I can see a very faint outline of what may have been a label on the bulkhead under the rearmost seat. If anyone can point me toward a supplier for replacement I.D. tag, it might make registration easier when the time comes. Thanks, Ron

    Boat I.D.

Hello Is it at all likely that a manufacturer could have produced a hull with absolutely no identifying markings? Could this info have been on a metal plate that’s been lost or removed? I’ve looked pretty carefully, and can’t find a thing. I’m concerned about getting a registration once I’m...

    1988 Johnson 28SPL

Hello, Have acquired the motor mentioned above. They're apparently rated at 30HP despite the name. They came with a long shaft. I'd like to modify it to better suit my transom. Has anyone got a lead on the parts to convert to short shaft? I basically got the motor for nothing, (with a helm...
