    bluetooth speakers

I use a JBL Flip 3 around the house and pool. It is splash proof, sounds great, loud and holds a charge a long time. It's cylindrical though, so not sure how well it would work on your boat unless you have a shelf of some sort to secure it. I have a Pyle marine amplifier with speakers and an aux...

    Decreased WOT speed and RPM's

Makes sense. I'll give this a try.

    Decreased WOT speed and RPM's

I have not shimmed and sharpened the impeller recently. I'll get on that before I take it back out again. At this point I'm living with the decrease in top end speed (which I think is coming from my beat up hull bottom), but the decrease in RPM's is concerning. Hopefully a cleaned up and shimmed...

    Decreased WOT speed and RPM's

And FWIW, when doing a hard turn at WOT and the boat cuts loose to slide through the turn, my RPM's jump back up to the 5300 range. Less hull resistance sliding through turns, right? So make sense the rpm's climb back up in that situation. Which tells me the decrease in RPM's at normal WOT is...

    Decreased WOT speed and RPM's

It definitely runs better in the fall/winter, and I do think hot, humid weather is a factor. Didn't get it out at all last fall/winter to waterfowl hunt (new baby kept me home) so it's been awhile since I've been able to run it in cooler/dryer weather for comparison. I have only run it on 93...

    Decreased WOT speed and RPM's

1994 Johnson 50/35 on a riveted 1996 Tracker 1648. With 2 guys and fishing gear I use to get upper 20's spinning at 53-5400 rpm's. Nowadays I'm down in the lower 20's spinning 51-5200 at WOT. Compression is good and even on the motor which has 75 hours after a complete rebuild a few years ago...

temporarily repairing a hole in your boat.

This. I keep the JB water weld on hand as an emergency only.

I keep a tube of the same thing in my boat as well.

    1975 Sea King 6hp

Here is where I got parts for a 1965 Johnson 5hp I use to run. Not sure if they have what you're looking for or not. Worth a look or email though. https://www.maxrules.com/index.php

    First attempts with new smoker!

I love mine. They are simple but really great cookers. There are a TON of resources online for building a UDS. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want. Mine is built 95% with welding, but you can do a complete one with just nuts and bolts.

    First attempts with new smoker!

Never. Wet wood will steam rather than smoke until all the water is driven off/out. Kind of counter productive. I've also heard that it can cause some creosote, although I'm not sold on that theory. If you are soaking chips to keep them from burning up quickly, wrapping them in a foil pack with...

    First attempts with new smoker!

No door. The charcoal basket lifts out after removing the grates. I do this after every cook to clean up the ash and drippings to prevent the bottom from rusting out. So far my UDS is still as good as new after dozens of cooks, but I admit I'm rather anal with keeping in clean. Below is my...

    First attempts with new smoker!

Ugly drum smoker. I made mine out of a 55 gallon metal drum. There are many variations and ways to make one. There is even some commercially made versions, although most are homemade. Mine uses a 3/4" ball valve to control intake along with 2 other 3/4" capped nipples. A 2" x 6" 90 degree nipple...

    Upper Potomac

Yeah, and I knew that in retrospect. Went up river correctly, but for whatever reason the left side looked better coming back down. Had to pull my boat through that riffle a few years ago coming back down river in the same spot at around the same level. Instantly remembered that after I hit...

    First attempts with new smoker!

I love doing chicken thighs and legs on my UDS. I brine mine for a few hours, up to overnight, in 2 gallons of water with 2 cups brown sugar and 1 cup kosher salt. Rinse, pat dry and then apply a generous amount my poultry rub. On my UDS between 300-350 with some fruit wood (usually apple and/or...

    Upper Potomac

Fished above McCoy's Ferry for a few hours yesterday morning. Worked our way up to above Licking Creek and fished or way back down. Water was low and clear. Saw water temps of 81-82. Ended up boating 19 on bottom contact plastics. Not even a sniff on topwater early. All small fish though. Made...

50 Merc for 1980 Hewescraft River Runner?

I have a '94 Johnson 50/35 on a riveted mod-v 1648. Pretty thin hull and overall a light boat. Before I beat the crap out of the bottom, I was getting high 20's down river and mid 20's up river with 2 guys and fishing gear.

I feel like it's been a strange year overall. Not sure what drawn out flooding does to the bass, but I think it's had at least some effect on them so far this year. I have a few hours to get out this Sunday and might head up that way as well, just for convenience. I prefer other stretches of the...
