    Upper Potomac

Got out yesterday morning and managed 14 in a few hours during the morning. Got ran off the river from the heat. Fish were spread out and the bite was slow, especially once the sun got up high. Most were found along shaded banks in calmer water. Very few came from behind current breaks and in...

Plumbing fuel line from tank to motor

The motor side is what I couldn't quite get figured out. Tank side seems simple enough with a threaded nipple and hose clamp. Thanks for the suggestions.

Plumbing fuel line from tank to motor

Wanting to get rid of the quick connects on my fuel line for my 1994 Johnson 50/35 jet. I always seem to end up with issues with the quick connects. I've replaced probably 3 sets of them in 5 years. Yesterday I had some issues starting and I realized my bulb on my fuel line wasn't very firm...

    Submersible Lights

LED is the way to go. I struggled with my incandescent for a season or two with bulbs bursting from being hot and hitting cold river water, and various other issues. Since switching to LED's and properly wiring them I haven't had a problem since. I don't even unplug when unloading/loading the boat.

    Charger hook up

I keep my Noco Gen 2 plugged in all the time. But like was already said, it depends on what specific charger you have.

    Upper Potomac

I haven't been on the Upper Potomac since early May. We did very well then. Have canceled at least 4 trips due to water levels. Thankfully we got a few days in on the Susquehanna back in April, or I'd be going even more crazy at this point. Going to try and get out this coming weekend. Should be...

How often do you check your u-bolts

I bet. Glad it wasn't any worse.

    Anchors

The only time I use anchors both of the bow and stern is when we are catfishing directly below the dam in my local river. I'm talking 50-60 yards below the face of a 30' dam. Anchoring at both the bow and stern keeps the boat from drifting around in the weird currents that the dam produces. I...

How often do you check your u-bolts

I check EVERYTHING thoroughly on my trailer each spring and fall. Axle, u-bolts, bunks, tires, etc. Wheel bearings get cleaned and re-packed with grease each spring and fall as well. Before each trip I check tire pressure and quickly visually inspect everything else. My biggest fear is a...

    Trailer lights

Best thing I ever did for my trailer was replace all the incandescent lights with LED's. I'd also suggest running a dedicated ground wire from the wiring harness back to each tail light and use tinned, heat shrink connectors for all of the connections. This is exactly what I did and my trailer...

    Anchors

I WILL have one of these on my next boat. I hate throwing the anchor and have gotten very good at holding my boat in position using the trolling motor in current. But it gets to be quite a pain in the butt doing so.

    WaterWeld to seal up holes

I keep a tube of JB water weld in my boat as well. Good reminder to check on it to see if it's dried up.

Where do you have your tiny tach mounted?

My is screwed to the gunwale rib right beside my control box. I can see it easily when under way. I extended the wire several feet to get it up beside the control box and drivers seat. Easy to extend the wire so you can put it where you want.

    Pedestal seat systems

For the rear bench the 3/4" pin style will work fine as long as you are putting the seat directly into the base with no pedestal on your benches. If you need the extra height by using a pedestal you need one of the wider bases that are permanently mounted to the pedestal and seat base. I use the...

Recs needed on Seats, Seat Bases, Pedestals,etc...

I got my bases, mounts and pedestals all from here......https://www.springfieldmarinescratchanddent.com/ Pretty good pricing for "scratch and dent". But honestly, all the stuff I got was just barely cosmetically damaged, if at all. Just a scratch or two here or there, IIRC. Purely cosmetic...

    Portable Jump Starter

That blows!! Did you try and contact NOCO about it? My on board charger had one of the banks go bad after lighting struck a tree on my property. Assuming it fried the bank (among several other electronics in the house :( ). Noco replaced it no questions asked. I actually just picked up...

    Portable Jump Starter

The NOCO's are nice. I have their 2 bank on board charger on my boat and love it. When/if I get another boat, it will certainly be larger than my current one with a bigger motor. Will most likely get a larger/more powerful jump starter like the NOCO. But the one I have now is nice insurance for...

    Portable Jump Starter

HA!! Not something I want to make a habit of, but we were in the middle of the best day smallmouth fishing my boat has seen. So we HAD to fish until dark!!
