How long should I let my motor warm up for?

I've noticed since the weather has turned a bit cooler and the lake has dropped from 85* water temp to 70*, if I don't let my motor warm up for 15-20 seconds before I accelerate after I've been sitting for a while, that it'll bog or even die. Once it warms up, its fine. How long should I be...

    What Anchor?????????????

Same. Some people worry too much about what others think of them. So what if its a milk jug full of cement? Does your $30 anchor make you catch more fish than me? Thats held me just fine in pretty strong wind on a lake with a muddy/sand bottom with no issues.

    What Anchor?????????????

If you are worried about losing your anchor and current isn't a big deal, then just fill a milk jug full of concrete. Or heck, the guy I bought my boat from was just using a cinder block as an anchor. This way if you have to cut your anchor line, its not the end of the world.

    Ugly Tub

I like the lines, I just don't like the black. It would look a lot better with a different color. Green or Grey, would look pretty solid.

Couple of engine issues - Moved my gas tank & spark plug...

I think I found the issue. Accelerated at the lake this evening and the fuel filter filled with air. I have an air leak in the fuel system somewhere.

    floor install question

I coat all of the wood going in my boat with 3 layers of Spar Urethane. Pre fit it and pre-drill any bolt holes a little bigger than needed, and make sure to coat those as well.

Couple of engine issues - Moved my gas tank & spark plug...

Pappy, this motor sat for a decade next to a barn. I had to replace the entire wiring harness already. So the plug wires may be bad, I wouldn't be surprised. I will switch to the champion plug and report back.

Couple of engine issues - Moved my gas tank & spark plug...

Could you get me the NGK model number? And where did you get new plug wires? Do they make short universal ones?

    Backup Cameras

Maybe I'm just used to being a big dude and this not being an issue, but can't you just get it close and then move the trailer by hand? My 2500lb camper with a 300lb tongue weight doesn't give me any issues to move around, and I even push it up the 15* grade from the street to park it in the...

Couple of engine issues - Moved my gas tank & spark plug...

A couple questions I'm hoping someone can help out with. 25 hp 2-cylinder 2 stroke Johnson. I think its an 83' with an 84' lower unit. I moved my gas tank to the front of the boat, and now have about a 15' long fuel line. I used 3/8" fuel hose from a local hardware store. From the fuel pump to...

Mooring a boat in a lake.

That sucks. I've been told Kentucky Lake is great for striper. But no way I'm going out there and risk getting slapped in the face with an asian carp.

First camping/boating combo trip went awesome!

Any reason you can't pull your boat with the class-C ? I see people around here do it all the time. I'd make sure to have a roller bunk trailer, so you don't have to back it as far in the water, though.

How much is too much water in your bilge?

It is where all the water accumulates. But a certain amount of water has to be present in order for the pump to actually be able to prime itself and work. The amount of water never goes over the amount needed to trigger the water level switch on the pump, so I have to run it manually from my...

How much is too much water in your bilge?

I had my boat out for about 12 hours yesterday fishing for hybrid stripers and catfish with my dad. Towards the end of the day I noticed there was about 1-2 gallons of water in the bilge area in the back of the boat in front of the transom. Not a big deal and it was actually not even enough for...

    Tablets

I'm actually really happy with my Amazon Fire 7. I had a 10" tablet before that, and both my wife and I gave ours to our kids and got 7" tablets (she bought herself one of them and won mine in a raffle). I like the 7" a lot more. The 10" is too big to be comfortable with for reading. And yes...

How to support floor platform in bow of boat?

Yeah, I plan to do that this evening.

How to support floor platform in bow of boat?

Finished it this evening. I cut a 2x4 at a 45* angle to support the front. I stood on it and it it seems plenty secure. Ran 20' of fuel hose under the floor boards to the back and hooked that up, so now my fuel tank is out of the way.

How to support floor platform in bow of boat?

Yeah. I'm realizing that if I go with angle braces, I'm going to lose a ton of space, and possibly not even be able to fit in the gas tank. This may end up just being tackle box / life jacket storage and I'll move the gas tank back to under the floor to the left of the drivers seat. Which would...

How to support floor platform in bow of boat?

So I decided to build a storage area for my boat, to hide the battery and gas tank. I cut the floor out. Reused the mounts where the previous owner removed the front bench (yes, my 2x6 is a bit weathered! Seems solid enough though). And here is my rough in, so far. The plywood deck is...

    Painting with electric sprayer?

I'll tell you what...I had one of those wagner electric sprayers, and it was junk. It didn't spray, it splattered. It didn't make a fine mist - it looked more like I'd put a bunch of paint in my mouth and then spit it at the wall. Big waste of money.
