Yesterday I got the boat out of the garage after my dad took some time to clean the whole thing up. It is looking good if I do say so myself. Today my brother-in-law and I finished up a lot of the wiring, including my Bluewater LEDs on the deck and in the rear compartment. Not a lot of work...
Not sure how I missed this build, but you did a great job. Excellent craftmanship there. Simply awesome, everything you need and then some in a 14 footer.
It has been quite some time since I have done any significant work on the boat. My weekends have been booked with UVA football games, a Saints-Panthers game and some family stuff. Hopefully now I can put the finishing touches on the boat and get it out of the garage. All I have done recently...
If you can afford it, or have a scrapyard close by, look into aluminum for your decking. Lighter, stronger and will last forever. Scrapyards can have some great stuff if you just look around a little bit.
It just takes some time. I started with the tension knob almost completely tightened down and the magnetic braking at the highest number. You'll get the hang of it.
I drink a few while out on the water. Probably never more than 4 or 5 over the course of the day, and have been known to open one well before noon...if I'm going to be out there all day what does time matter??
I plan on getting an extension handle for my tiller, so that I can sit on the front of the livewell while running.
Glad to see I could help you out with your build.
I am pretty sure we are used the same carpet from Lowes. And yes, make sure the grain is in the same direction. I had to redo a hatch because I forgot to pay attention to that detail.
