Are brushless trolling motors that much better?

Was browsing and noticed that the Lowrance Recon and other brushless trolling motors seem to double the price. I have had only ones with brushes, but haven’t ever had to change any. Are there other significant benefits? Are they that much quieter? That more efficient? Not looking to buy...

Anyone here use Vevor hydraulic steering system?

It appears to be a Chinese copy of the Seastar system at less than half the price. I’m thinking of changing out the cable steering on my pontoon boat with 150 Merc. Depending on load, speed, trim, etc, the cable system can be stiff. I’d like it to be smoother for other drivers. I’d like to...

    Micro Power Pole Mounting?

Can’t help but would like to see a picture of what you decide.

    Wood or Aluminum

Aluminum is generally harder to work with and access to tools to work with are less available, to most. When I did the floor in my 1648, it was aluminum over closed cell foam panels. My local supply cut the sheets to my spec and had a large brake for the bends needed. Lacking welder and the...

    Picked up Eldorado today

I like the looks! :) I think twin 40's would take away from it. The hydraulic steering will need modification or possible replacement to handle two motors. New controls for motors. I'd wait until you have removed the floor before deciding on with what. See what you have to work...

Wiring two screens? Do both need to have separate electrical wire straight to the terminals?

If the wire feeding it and its fuse is sized to that wire, can handle the total current, you will need an inline fuse for each of the units, to protect the smaller wire feeding each. I don't think you will have interferance from the shared wire, but if the transducer frequencies are close...

    2022 G3 17' CCJ - Rigging

Ordered a replacement today. Optronics STL15RB was a little less than $30. I've done much stupider things that cost me much more. ;)

    2022 G3 17' CCJ - Rigging

Season Three Finale: This fall has been the story of very low and clear water. Sept was low, October lower, and now mid-November, the lowest. About a 1/2 foot lower than October. On the first day, we tried a ramp and couldn't float the boat off the trailer. That would be with some good...

I was thinking it should have included Tin Boats 6.1 and Fishing Rods 9.0, at least for this audiance! :D

    Electrolysis pin holes

If the area "feels" strong and there are only a few pin holes, I see others that recommend just drilling them out and adding solid rivets. I'd still seal the inside.

    Electrolysis pin holes

Welcome to TinBoats! There have been a number of discussions on this issue. When I encountered it, it was where the wooden transom was in contact, above the water line. After cleaning, some marine epoxy on pin holes, used a couple coats of gluvit. The replaced transom wood was also sealed...

    My 2022 SunTracker 22DLX Thread

End of our second season. Only 70 hours on the clock, so far. On leap years, they do an early drawdown. Mid-October vs Mid-November. Yearly maintenance and storage prep complete on the Merc. 2nd year on the PVC frame and tarp storage. I did lower the peak 4" though. For next...

Bonding aluminum floor to inside hull?

It’s been a long time, used a piano type wire back in my in my youth. Just didn’t know if it was still applicable for today’s vehicles. Leaving one in place for each rib and accessible seems a bit much. That’s coming from someone who leaves one or two snake wires to pull future electrical runs...

Bonding aluminum floor to inside hull?

There is always the chance that sometime in the future that the floor will have to come out to do a repair or a modification. Not sure what it would take to break the bond on that.

    Censorship

As others have said, I don't see this as censorship, but inforcing the rules. Now, I do feel that the rules may have been too strict for what was posted. No one has a problem with posting the flag or eagles. Yes, it came right after contenious election cycle and was probably meant as a small...

Great day of fishing but had a blow out.

I’ve had a couple blowouts over the years. Never fun. The metal fenders protected the boat fairly well. I’ve seen others with plastic fenders get shredded. Glad you had some good fishing to offset the misery.
