Anyone else admit to an OOPSIE!

It is a lifetime of "oops" that make us wise men when we are older! Sometimes I wonder how old that is? :D

    Best Trolling Motor Plug/Receptacle

They look identicle to what I have used in the past. They push on easily, but have never pulled off like you described. Those hooks on the tip of the lugs snap in and have to over come that to remove them.

    Best Trolling Motor Plug/Receptacle

Can’t speak for the MK one, but the Battery Tender is a very easy twist lock. It is much easier than taking apart the connectors you are using. I have those connectors on all my previous trolling motors, but I called them UPS connectors, for it was the first thing I saw them on. You have to...

    Bait Management

Nothing fancy here. We occasionally fish for channel cats and have a piece of scrap laminate flooring for cutting board. Mainly for cut bait, though. PS: I plan to upgrade to a scrap piece of vinyl plank, soon. :D

Powering your home during power outages

You must be well inland to have escaped Sandy. My daughter had just moved to NE NJ and lost power for a week. She had to drive to Middletown NY to recharge cell and laptop. Not to mention the nervous parents in upstate that couldn’t reach her.

Powering your home during power outages

Batteries large enough to power all that are not going to recharge in two hours of running a generator. At our camp, most people use propane auto switch generators. Currently we do not have any back-up power there. I have looked into some battery back-up for the FIOS and wireless router...

    NMEA 2000 Wifi Gateway

That would be interesting if it works. It seems in recent years the mfgs try to lock you in with FF and trolling motor. Since owning a MG W45, we have gone with two remotes. It was even more important since it was non-gps. I keep spare batteries in the travel case, but usually that is left...

    NMEA 2000 Wifi Gateway

Thx for posting. I see there is a slight delay for the Wi-Fi bridge compared to FF display, but not terrible.

Patching holes and corrosion on a Star craft Mariner

The use of pop rivets for the aluminum patches may create more leaks. They will not seal like a bucking rivet.

Patching holes and corrosion on a Star craft Mariner

Most epoxy coatings can seal seam or rivet leaks but not meant to bridge holes. Most are for applying inside the hull. The outside ones are more for a wear coating. My guess is this boat was left on the ground and partially filled with water, and sat for years. The prior owner did the bondo...

Patching holes and corrosion on a Star craft Mariner

I have never used marinetex in that manor, ie bottom coating. That hull looks pretty bad and suspect you will find more as you go. As much as it hurts, I’d probably sell it for scrap aluminum and find another hull. :(

Great prices on Bluetooth enabled batteries

My understanding is the pagers were tampered with and explosives added. I have drone batteries that have a Bluetooth connection and not concerned one bit.

    NMEA 2000 Wifi Gateway

For fuel remaining, your gas tank size has to be configured and then reset whenever you fill up. Now, even though I have it configured, that is not working on the Yamaha. Simrad says a parameter needs to be changed for Yamaha. It wouldn’t surprise me if Suzuki does as well.

    NMEA 2000 Wifi Gateway

Alternator voltage is output by both the Merc and Yamaha. I did a quick search, and the table I found for Suzuki indicated it does output it. The table went from 40 hp and up though. If your 20hp has a magneto charging system, maybe not. I suspect that you will have config screens to turn...

    NMEA 2000 Wifi Gateway

Our G3/Yamaha only came with a gas gauge and not very accurate at that. Didn’t need a gateway from engine, only to wire up a connector. I went with a standalone display SIMRAD IS35, because my old HB needed an expensive gateway and it was a first generation NMEA2K and not supported anymore. It...

    NMEA 2000 Wifi Gateway

47 hours, barely broken in. :) Do you have a digital compass on your NMEA network or using phone/display device? Is the boost for the optional water pressure sensor?

In some ways, the river takes care of stupid. ;)

A little foggy start last week.

SoCal doesn’t have the lock on fools! Plenty to go around in NJ/NYC. Only had two ‘yakers out with us that AM.

A little foggy start last week.

It was like that last Friday. It didn’t clear until 9:30. The top water bite was great until the sun burned thru.

1996 Bass Tracker Restoration! Need ideas on framing+ advice with foaming!

If you are only capturing the last 2 foot or so of the rod, look at those golf club protector sleaves. They are black and have a "buldged" end that can nicely hide a not perfect cut hole.
