Best way to charge and maintain batteries?

It looks like, overall, we agree to fully charge right after use. Split on using maintainers or just periodic charging. Given the experience of the forum members here, both methods work. Just pick what you are most comfortable with. As far as topping off, if it has been a few weeks since last...

    TimeUSB 100AH 12.8V Pro LiFePO4 Battery Review

I have two 1’ 6awg cables I used to balance them. Considered installing them with dis-connects, and would need another dis-connect on the cable that goes from negative on one battery to the positive on the other. Two much added mess. The biggest pain will be trying to remember to do it...

Swapping out a jet pump for a prop lower?

OutBoardJets have install instrucrions based on which pump you have: Install Instructions They send those instructions, even if purchased already assembled from the factory. You can kind of reverse engineer them. I assume the lower unit is what was left over from the initial jet install and...

Best way to charge and maintain batteries?

Agree with Airshot. Except, I do not leave a maintainer on. Lightning and power surges is the reason I don't, but you may hae a more stable grid. I just recharge them around the 2 month mark.

    Yesterday's computer mess

Only did assembler when taking microprocessor classes. It was only C and C++ when I actually did any coding in the work world. Spent my career in “near real-time” systems too. Sometimes someone had to write some inline code for some drivers.

    Yesterday's computer mess

These were major companies with etensive IT departments. They don't let 3rd parties just push their new S/W, when they want. They determine that. That leads me to believe this was deployed a while ago, and the fault was pretty much a "time bomb".

    Been Gone

I was lucky enough to find neighborhood kids that wanted my equipment. I did a search on "kids fishing charities" and the first couple seemed to only want cash donations or equipment from suppliers. This one said you can email them a list of the equipment: Kids Fishing Foundation...

    Spark Plugs Getting Scarce

Very sad to hear about all these fake sparkplugs. I stocked up on them quite some time ago, but my stock is getting low for the Merc 25. I'll need some for the new engines in the near future, as well. This has been a problem in electonic parts for many years. But, there are good...

    16’ vbottom project

FWIW: I have and have seen quite a few Starcraft's with the single stringer down the middle, like what the OP has. I highly doubt that it has been modified by a previous owner. I didn't want the OP to think he has a *******ized boat.

    Yesterday's computer mess

I have not heard a good explaination of how such a critcal and obvious error (blue screen of death) that crashes the OS was not found during testing, prior to mass release. Someone cut some serious corners.

    16’ vbottom project

The OEM used 1/2" plywood and the styrofoam sheets did not support it. There should be a ledge for the mounting on the side and screws went into the rib ends. The edges of the plywood was angled along the outter edge to somewhat match the side taper. With 3/4" and square cut will leave too...

    TimeUSB 100AH 12.8V Pro LiFePO4 Battery Review

I saw in the manual that they recommend rebalancing every 6 months. Given your use, doesn’t sound like that would be needed. I have no problem doing it on a yearly basis, but mid season would be a bit of a pain.

I’ve had both of those brands in I/O props. They work. I think Solas has a wider selection.

    115/90 Mercury

I’ll second getting the largest that the boat is rated for. The common jet sizes are 150/105, 115/80, and 90/65. The latter would be too small for that size boat.

    Prop advise

That with your engine model/year to ID the hub/splines and gear case diameter should get you there. I have had good luck with Solas aluminum replacement props.

    Best fishing poles.

This latest return, was the first that the broken rod did not have to back to St Croix Just had to take picture and submit. Mine is broke 6” down from tip. Eventually I will put a new tip on it, but it will most likely be too short and stiff for any real use.
