Powering your home during power outages

I haven't made it through the entire thread yet so hopefully this has already been covered; but, just in case: ANYTIME YOU HOOK UP AN ACTIVE BACK UP POWER SYSTEM TO YOUR HOUSE, ISOLATE YOUR HOUSE FROM THE POWER GRID. If you don't, you will back feed onto the main system. Best case scenario...

    Being Green

It's probably my fault. I sometimes struggle to pick up on social cues in person, let alone online.

    Being Green

I'd rather do laundry on a line than with a dryer personally, at least in the summer. I learned as a bachelor that clothes dry faster in the Texas summer sun than in a dryer. I can usually do laundry with a line in half the time it takes with a dryer, which means more time for fishing lol.

    Being Green

I think a big part of today’s disposable economy is tied to the post-WWII economic boom. As a whole, the generations from Gen-X down (myself included) did not receive that training or have those experiences. We grew up in a world where every need, and just about every want, was readily...

What to watch out for: 1990(ish) 15hp Johnson

Picked up a little bit of a miss as it warmed up. Plugs looked ok and had good spark so I didn’t change them. I think it’s a timing issue but I’m going to change the plugs first and see if that fixes it.

    1976 16' Mirrocraft

Once you have everything where you want it, I'd add some red loctite to the nuts. Nothing worse than losing a nut while running down the road.

    Being Green

Personally, I'd be happy if we went back to a lot of that stuff. I prefer clothes dried on a line (especially towels and sheets), everything tastes better coming out of a glass bottle, paper grocery bags are infinitely better than plastic and are biodegradable... sometimes the old ways are the...

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

Parts motor in my area are too expensive. I've seen locked up motors listed for $200 plus.

What to watch out for: 1990(ish) 15hp Johnson

IT IS ALIVEEE! I was able to find a replacement nozzle well. Mine is part number 0396605 and is listed as discontinued on all of the major parts websites. 0397189 is a direct replacement. Took me a lot of searching and a couple of nudges in the right direction from members here, but I got it...

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

Part came in yesterday and I got everything rebuilt today. It is in fact the same part, just under a different part number

Patching holes and corrosion on a Star craft Mariner

I’d check how far the corrosion around the smaller holes has spread first. Chances are, if it corroded enough to eat through, the metal around them is going to be extremely thin and brittle as well.

Archery hunting Bad then Good 😮

Gentlemen, lets keep this civil please. This doesn't add anything to the conversation or represent the forum well.

    Tintable topside paint

The Ace in my area does as well.

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

Tried with the model carb number and motor number. No joy on either. I’m hoping that the shop manual tells me. If not, I’m sure it’s on YouTube somewhere.

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

I can't find a more specific kit for that carb. Even looking at the most current motor that used that carb (1998), all that is available is the kit I have.

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

I just downloaded the factory service manual for the motor. I didn’t see an option for a factory rebuild kit when I bought the kit I have but I’ll check and see if there is one for a ‘93 since they appear to use the same carb.

Great prices on Bluetooth enabled batteries

I was thinking det-cord. Not sure how you’d get it thin enough and still be effective; but, I’m sure they could figure it out.

    Aquilla Lake - Texas

Anybody fished Aquilla lately? I haven't been able to get on it in a couple of months. Last I had heard, the Crappie were moving off the piles and into flooded timber. Wasn't able to confirm that personally though.

Archery hunting Bad then Good 😮

Stuff like this sucks, but it happens. We had to sell off a little over half of the family hunting property last year because one of the distant cousins was causing problems. Three generations grew up hunting that land and one....person... cost us the best half for hunting. There were lots of...
