    My hobbies

Paymaster, I recently started to tie flies again for the first time in about 40 years. I tried a #14 and could hardly see the dang thing. Had to go up to 12's before I could make any worthwhile. Nice job. Keep 'em flying...

    Is Crochetier a Word?

The older I get the more I realize I'm not cut out to be a 21st century person; I'm just not up to the task. What's the deal with so many people making videos of everything they do. I admit that Youtube is awesome and there's some pretty crazy (and time wasting) stuff on there but jeeze, how...

HEAVY 1448 GRIZZLY, NEED HELP WITH MOTOR SUGGESTIONS

Hopefully one of the motor guys will chime in but sometimes a good used one will do the job and save a pile of money. I'm by no means a motor guy though...I can point one out but that's about as far as it goes. My set up with two people and the usual gear (+ two batteries) will get in the upper...

HEAVY 1448 GRIZZLY, NEED HELP WITH MOTOR SUGGESTIONS

I have this boat with a 25MercEFI w/T&T. Sucks out of the hole but good once on plane. I'd go with the 25 (which is max rated for this boat).

Obituary of anyone you know?? Miserable SOB...

Truth is a good thing. Too often terrible people in life become saints in death - for some reason people don't want to speak ill of the dead. I'm a believer of calling a thing what it is. Death never alters that. I say good for her for having the courage to say what was needed.

    Spare/Scrap Trailer

I don't know how it works but cars/trucks are often times sold with a "salvage" title after having been totaled by the insurance company but then repaired by a new buyer. This happened a lot after hurricane Katrina where cars were submerged in the flooding. Calling your state DMV could...

Harbor Freight Trailer and 1542 Tracker

I had one of those red Harbor Freight trailers for a 1236 and it seems to me it wasn't any too large for the boat. As you can see in the pics I had the bunks about 18" beyond the trailer frame to support the boat and the front didn't leave much room for the winch/post. Also I could never...

    funny craigslist finds

I sorry to confess - or not - that while listening to the news and drinking my coffee in the morning I have been known to wander around the World Wide Web. Sometimes I go to silly places like I did this morning. I found this on the Best of Craig's List:

A boat full of holes to fill

Here's what I did following the advice of a welder. About halfway down the page: https://forum.tinboats.net/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=14501&hilit=sportsman&start=30

Anyone make thir own wood crankbaits?

I finally finished a few lures. It's taken me months to get all the stuff together including a place to work. I've got some problems with the finish but this is some of what I have to show for my first batch. I haven't tested them out fishing but have floated them and the balance seems good...

    I suck more than most.....

I'm not trying to start an argument or contest here but when it comes to fishing, I've gotta suck more than most. If I went out fishing 10 times I'd get skunked at least seven times while my fishing partner will catch fish almost every time. In the words of bluesman Albert King, "If it wasn't...

    home made power poles

My brother's going to make me one of these. I'm probably going to sell by boat this spring as it doesn't get used but a few times a season. I think I'm going to concentrate on my kayak and this pole anchor is the deal. Maybe I'll have to look for plasticboats.net. Actually there are many...

Fish Finder on a Tracker 1036? Other questions

Yes, Humminbird makes one that clamps to the boat making it removable for car-toppers, canoes, kayaks etc.

Which hour/RPM meter for a new Merc 20 HP?

DaisyCutter Off topic but I gotta ask. Does your username come from that very famous Chicago area beer of the same name?

    Decking-When and when not to.

This also leads to people removing the center seat when they shouldn't. Lots of people already have a boat that they want to open up and deck even though the boat isn't a good candidate for doing so. Some boats are designed to be open and are manufactured that way. Some boats use the center...

    home made power poles

This is a nice one. I would drill the holes in the bracket large enough to accommodate a plastic/nylon bushing to prevent wear on the pole and particularly on the rope.

12' 1998 Grumman: Tips and Questions

Love the drawing! Who needs CAD? In about two minutes you've covered all the necessary points in less time than it takes for my drawing program to boot up. Also, my symbols library doesn't include beer or fish. Well done!
