    Military Humor

In the 70's I was stationed at a NATO base in Germany. My supervisor was a Navy guy who told me one of the pranks that they used to play on new seamen was to send them to get a fallopian tube*. As all the sailors knew the joke the seaman would be sent from one place looking for it and it could...

    First boat coming in September

T&T? Absolutely! So many reasons why the T&T is good, not the least of which it saves your back.

    Disc Golf

There's a course near me and it's a mystery how the players can make it work. I can't even get the thing to go in the direction I threw it much less into the basket.

    SnapPower thoughts?

And it's not just the kids. In my little workshop/manshack I must have about 20 things needing plugging in. I haven't tried either of the items you posted but both seem like a good idea to provide nightlight and/or USB charging without having to use one of the outlets.

    Seized lower unit bolts

You can try an impact screwdriver too but go easy on aluminum. It worked on a 60's 40hp Johnson for me. Available at parts and home improvement stores, Harbor Freight etc.

    Its almost Garden time

The fall here in my part of MN has been unusually warm - last weekend we broke our all-time growing season record. As of today we have had 212 consecutive days with above freezing temps. It's November in MN and I still have roses, zinnias and nasturtiums blooming in my garden. Our fall temps...

Unread Posts...How come when you click on the category...

May be wrong but I believe that function keeps track of those you have or have not read - as opposed to the whole forum.

Looking for PWC's for a jet build?

It's the end of the boating season here in the Great White North and people are unloading PWC's like crazy. Today I found one running unit w/trailer for $400 and a pair of parts ones $200 for both. In the last two or three weeks there have been maybe half a dozen running PWC's w/trailers...

Anyone make thir own wood crankbaits?

I started a couple of winters ago to make various lures/flies and like most things I do, let it go for a while. Just yesterday I picked up a benchtop wood lathe to replace the homemade one I had been using. Here's the link to my former attempts...

** SeaArk 1652 Bass Boat Conversion - "The Dirty Oar" **

The killswitch thing is hard. It's so easy to develop bad habits and so hard to break them. I've been trying hard to wear the killswitch and life jacket while under way. Accidents are by definition unplanned so thinking you'll slip on the life jacket or killswitch if necessary isn't gonna work.

Is a new Merc 25 too heavy for Grizzly 1448?

I have a 2010 25EFI w/T&T Merc on my 2009 Grizzly 1448 and it's fine. Very sluggish out of the hole but once on plane it gets speeds in the upper 20's. It may be sluggish due to the weight, I don't know and really doesn't matter to me as I'm not in a race to get to a fishing hole.

8lb line to small for bass?

It's the lily stems that are the problem. I have the same issue where I fish in MN. The lily stems are like casting into brush. I fish top water so the question of a leader isn't so critical but once hooked the fish heads for the bottom and into the lily stems and roots. I use 20# braid and...

    Primer on jets

Thanks everyone. I thought about a mud motor but it's not what I really want. Maybe the weedy condition was just for the season, I guess I'll see what next year brings. In the meantime my kayaks are just the thing. It's just that I'm lazy sometimes and the motor is easy and I can move around...

    Primer on jets

I'm thinking about a jet boat but maybe for the wrong reason. I'm wondering if anyone here can recommend a source to research basic jet boat use (if that's the right way to say it) or just give me some advice. I believe a lot of jet boat users are running in rivers and are running them in...

    Galvanized bolts ok for aluminum?

No. You can buy them one at a time or in bags of maybe 10 or 25 or some other multiple. Much cheaper in bulk and there's always some use for them. As already said, much cheaper to buy SS now than deal with the problems later.

    Jacob Wetterling

It's a terrible story. After nearly 27 years the parents ended up trading justice for the return of their son's remains. The perpetrator led authorities to Jacob's grave last week after a plea deal in which he will serve 20 years for a separate offense. He will not be charged and tried for...
