    Project River Donkey complete....alumacraft 1542

Yeah I didn't explain that part in the original post. For my humminbird 898, I have two transducers. The one you're talking about and also a puck transducer that is epoxied in the bilge area. This allows me to get depth readings on plane (with the puck). Anyone who knows about side imaging knows...

    Project River Donkey complete....alumacraft 1542

Yeah good point on those Jack plate bolts, I should probably trim em. The wires look kinda messy, but they really aren't. I used lots of zip ties and wire covers where I could, but underneath that switch panel there's just no really good way of making it look nice. Which is why I build the...

    Project River Donkey complete....alumacraft 1542

Well I'm finally done with a boat that I use around the house on smaller waters that I can't get my champion on. I borrowed some ideas but came up with most myself, hopefully it helps you guys with your builds. Here are the pics and descriptions. Enjoy! Started with an alumacraft 1542, cut the...

    Rod storage pics?

How do you guys store your rods on your jon boats? I'm wanting to store the reel end of the rod on the front bench with a bungee, and I'm having trouble thinking of a way to keep the other ends of the rods up off the deck and out of the way, close to the gunwale. Any ideas?

    Night fishing lights?

I'm going to set up some lights for night bass fishing. I was thinking some blue and uv strips on a removable piece of aluminum angle. What I'm curious about is the uv strips, and how far away they will light up mono. As far as the blue, I probably don't need that long of a strip to light up...

    Tree hook/clamp?

I fish a river that has a lot of overhanging trees, and when the current is ripping I'd like to be able to tie off to those trees to fish spots more thoroughly. Tying and untying a knot each time is a pain. I need some kind of hook or clamp, do any of you guys use something like that?

Smallest hull rated for a 60 jet?

60 at the jet. I believe it's the evinrude 90 powerhead.

Smallest hull rated for a 60 jet?

Yeah I've researched a little, still need to do more. I've read that some boats actually have jet drive hp ratings on the plate, it just depends on the manufacturer. I really want a 16', but would settle for a 17'. 18' is too big.

Smallest hull rated for a 60 jet?

In Texas, the game wardens cannot ticket you for a motor that exceeds the coast guard plate (as I understand...) but bass tournaments can DQ you for it. I'm kicking around the idea of building an outboard jet rig (with a side console) and setting it up for tourney fishing. There's a few lakes...

    Buying unfinished/unpainted hulls?

If I wanted to rig out and customize a boat myself, could I save any money buy ordering a boat that hasn't been painted and is basically just the bare hull? Do many boat companies even do this? How much money can you save? Thanks!

16ft runabout converted to a tiller

Well done. I like it. Tiller boats are much cooler than runabouts. And that is a scientific fact.

Any of you guys have some tips or pics of ways to organize tackle in smaller boats that doesn't take up much space?

Cautionary Words - Watch the weight of your mods...

It all depends on what you want to do with regard to weight distribution. The more weight you have forward the slower you'll run, but the less water your boat will draft in the back. But any weight reduction in a tinny is a good thing. I'm going to a small gas tank and a motorcycle battery...
