16ft runabout converted to a tiller

I purchased a 1965 starcraft runabout that a guy converted to a tiller boat. It's worked great for the 2 yrs I've owned it but after 2 yrs I've decided I want to change it up. There's not enough practical storage for my liking.

to each is there own it was already so called "molested" when I purchased it, just going to be showing my progress and modifications maybe it will help someone with there build isn't that the point of this forum

I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum, I don't see much use in a runabout aside for booze cruising and artificial reefs.

Same here... I really like it![WHITE SMILING FACE] just molested my tin... I cut it open...lol it really was cramped before. Now I have all sorts of space in the bow.

question for some of you is there a way to create a bend in 2x2 or 2x4 without a steam box or layering thinner cuts of wood I want to get as tight of a frame as possible to the sides of the boat

You take a circular saw and make a row of cuts most of the way through the board. When you have enough cuts to make the bend you put glue in all the cuts and clamp the board in place while the glue dries.

I was thinking of doing a rear casting deck, I know there's probably no right answer but if I was to raise the back bench and do a deck that's only 2 in from the gunwale would that be to high or mess with the stability of the boat. it would only be raised about 1.5-2in from where it is now, and a little added weight from the extra wood

I added a rear deck using the front of my splashwell and adding angle to the transom. Then cut ply wood to fit. You could pobably frame it in with angle and add support down the center to help keep it from sagging.

I like your conversion. . Im trying to find a similar boat for cheap to convert to a side console with a front casting deck.
