    Clear Coat

Weather is almost to the temperatures needed for my paint job. I will be using Fasco's 9x paint. My question regarding clear coat .... does the final coat of paint need to be tacky to apply, or be completely cured, before applying. Looking to go with this .... Quote from their web site: VHT...

    1974 RHYNCRAFT MAKEOVER

Today the Bimini Top was put together, and the six mounting spots were marked along the top rail. I'll weld 1" × 6" angle at 4 of these spots to mount the hold down brackets. The other two will mount on the transom angle plates at each corner. Mated up the front casting deck, installed supports...

    1974 RHYNCRAFT MAKEOVER

Scrambling around on my knees, sanding the factory paint off the interior ribs and floor is almost over. About 99% of the interior is sanded down to raw aliumium. A few little spots, and the rub rail need attention on the inside, then I'll find some "young guns", and flip Her.

Sealing bolt holes in transom ?

I just completed the task that You are starting on. In regards to sealing the wood; I used OLD TIMERS FORMULA: you can find info in the search box or Google. I used a series of 100% Spar after the series of Old Timers. In regards to Your bolt - look at 3M 5200 MARINE If You have holes; I chose...

    1974 RHYNCRAFT MAKEOVER

After much anticipation, I was able to install the wooden transom, without tearing it apart, or scratching up the varnish. Also, I was able to install the 1/8" aliumium transom cap, that will tighten up the boat, and add additional protection to the original transom. Now I'm able to weld that...

    1974 RHYNCRAFT MAKEOVER

It got to 70°+ ..... bought FASCO'S STEEL FLEX & DURABAK Products in October. I have been dying to see what these colors are going to look like in real time, rather than the vendors web site. First application was Fasco's. After the preparation of the aliumium, I mixed up a tan pigment that I...

    Topside paint?

I have purchased the products, and awaiting for the 70° temperature needed for proper application. I have opened one of the cans to check out the color. It is "spot on" for what I want. I purchased both smooth and rough. Smooth will be applied to my front platform (wood), and 2 coats on interior...

    Topside paint?

Look at DURABAK line. Their "TAN" is spot on for my application ( dessert storm). A primer is involved on aluminum, and it's brush or roller. Comes smooth or textured.

    Favorite Tool?

LOWES is my primary "go to" in regards to hardware and tools. I have one 20 miles east of me and 20 miles west of me. In regards to my battery drills, and saw zaw - it's RIGID .... So HOME DEPOT is my vendor for that item. On my boat build, and the lack of supplies - I'll shop between AMAZON...

    OEM vs ?

If your changing oil and filters every 3,000 miles, I personally do not see a reason going "top shelf". On my 7.3 - Shell Rotella w/Motorcraft filters. Rotella has been my go to for all my tractors, and diesel trucks. Wix and Napa for everything else. Do all my service work on my equipment...
