Patching holes and corrosion on a Star craft Mariner

One had better PRIME it 1st ... or this is the result on UNprotected tin!

    Upgrade 9.9 suzuki motor

My favs are the pressed aluminum ones by Turning Point that are almost as thin in blade section as SS ones. But never overlook OEM ones. For the Honda ones IF made by Solas, I'd be quite sure that it was made to Honda's specs, so that's still likely a good choice. And I've not tried them all...

Black RTV to patch plastic carb parts?

I’d probably clean well w/ alcohol & would use this sealant MADE for fuel systems. And could a small zip-tie (or SS wire, twisted tight) go all the way around the body/housing shown (between thumb & finger) to give added support, to at least stop that ‘wall’ where cracked from breaking out??

Is there a preferred location for mounting an electric horn?

Well, here's what the books/laws state, praphrasing here. Note IF (there may not be) there's any mounting choice between Port side of the boat and Starboard, the ideal location would be on the PORT. And here's why. For any boat, the area from 'dead ahead' to around to '4 o'clock' on the...

Photo examples of aluminum & stainless steel corrosion

At one marina, everyone’s zincs would rot away in weeks! So we put a diver in the water around the docks at that marina - unfortunately well before ANYONE really knew anything about ‘stray’ electricity in saltwater … and they immediately convulsed and went limp in minutes. Thank God, my older...

Hmmmm, do I need more HP?

It is very common up here for most houseboats not to have any engines on them at all, saves $$$$$ on registration and insurance! Note these are on tidal estuaries, so you just strap a small skiff to it and go down or out with the tide. And when you need to bring it back in the Fall, wait for...

FYI, found another HORRENDOUS actual example from my own personal files for how unprotected SS fasteners on a tin hull WILL rot it away~!

Nice LED (solar or USB RE-charge) spotlight

For Boating Safety: For boating or maybe around the house as an emergency backup, as I also carry a 12V plug-in powerful spotlight on the boat. But I keep this up on my covered walk-around helm, with the solar array pointed to the sun and it remained fully charged all season long! It is an LED...

Photo examples of aluminum & stainless steel corrosion

Example 1 - Unprotected aluminum corroded by the curing solvents used in many marine goops. Note the epoxy coating in the 2nd pic served to protect the parent tin. Example 2 - SS bolts through an aluminum rail without any protection or isolation. Recall that due to the corrosive effects of...

    Engine height

That's what I do to even "fine tune" OBs to V6 and 500-pounds, but it ONLY works when the lower bolts - that are in slots on the bracket - have ample room up/down to move the top bolts up or down 1 hole or so. The OP wants to mount his engine higher and he's out of room on the slots on his...

    Engine height

No need for a cherry picker, I've lifted many an OB up to V4 140hp in size motors by hanging a come-along or chainfall rig off a tree branch or joist in a garage. Of course, most of those allowed for the proper accessory lifting ring that bolts to the flywheel. One rainy day that I wanted to...
