Whaddya mean? Buy that Moeller drain assembly ... last one I bought co$t me $6. And install yourself using a home-made DIY flaring tool, see photos. I've done dozens of the brass transom thru-hull drains and a few drain plugs using this idea. None leaked ... Moeller Drain Assembly Moeller's...

Can you help me ID this random plug on bottom of boat?

At the stern on the hull bottom? I had an old Forget-Thy-Name-Brand tin hull that had a drain like that, including that large 1/2-rim around it.

    Drain holes in splash guards

.. also to prevent them from FREEZING and popping off the hull, if exposed in cccccold Winters below freezing! You know water will get in there, even if merely by condensation if truly closed up.

Mariner 40 EL no tilt- can I use a wood block when approaching the beach?

Not at all, as long as not bearing on something that'll break. Be aware, some motors come equipped with an interim trim/tilt position called "shallow water drive" that tilts it up enough to keep water flowing into the lower unit for cooling, and keep the prop in the water, but hopefully to get...

    The best bones

You really need to define the length you want. I will say I had a Lund Tyee 18' and the gunnel height was to my mid-thigh, MUCH taller than any other 18' tin boat in its size. It was also a deep-V hull and some Tyee lengths are double-hulled at the front, for strength. But I would not raise the...

GREAT Site for replacement decals for Boats or OB Motors~!

No problems there ... it sure won't be as pretty if it said 'Mercury', and may not survive trailering due to the loose fit (unless sercured with bungees) but Attwood Marine sells 'generic' OB motor covers out of heavy-duty canvas that fit sizes. I was them every season, to clena off salt spray...

GREAT Site for replacement decals for Boats or OB Motors~!

Sounds to me like CHEAP material was used for the decals, where they did not use UV-resistat/proof vinyl. I also use acetone to prep the area. And now use canvas motor covers on all my OB hoods/coalings. Here's some tips from Pappy, where he 'clear coats' over decals - see: Repainting cowlings
