    aluminum floored deck

I like to use a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet cut to fit and attached just barely using some velcro. That way you can pull the carpet out easily for cleaning, long term storing, or replacement. And you don't have to deal with paint or adhesive.

    Canadian Fly In Report

Our boat is actually a time machine. This trip happened in the future. Actually, I just messed up when putting in captions. I didn't notice until the video was all rendered and posted .... it's a pain to fix it so I just left it.

GoPro Camera - life expectancy ??

I love filming with my GoPro. Best thing I ever did was buy a skeleton case and a battery eliminator (see link for eliminator). https://www.amazon.com/Switronix-DVGP3USB-Battery-Eliminator-10-Feet/dp/B00JXNX6BU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1433352938&sr=8-1&keywords=gopro+battery+eliminator It...

    Camera for self filming hunts

I've thought about this a lot too. I've tried using a combination of my iPhone and GoPro, but like you said, lack of zoom is the trouble. I've also found that trying to re-position a camera with a deer in range is next to impossible and still get a shot. Just too many things to handle at...

    Canadian Fly In Report

Last Fall we did a Canadian Fly In to Quantz Lake through Hearst Air. We had been thinking about a trip like this for years and years. Finally we saved up our pennies and went. Boy oh boy was it worth it! Just spending a week totally off the grid with no electricity, running water, or...

    Pontoon Fishing. Why not?

I know this is an old thread, but I fished out of a pontoon boat this past weekend for the first time. I'm a die hard tin V-hull guy ..... but now I don't think I'll ever buy another one. I LOVED THE PONTOON BOAT!!!!!!!!!!!! We had 7 guys out there with no issues. The ride in rough water was...

Convert Bench Into Battery Compartment (1432 Alumacraft Jon)

Is the bench tall enough for you to cut access holes in the back of the bench and just slide the batteries in along the floor? If so, you wouldn't have to mess with the top of the bench at all.

Advice needed: to repair or not to repair

Looks great!! My grandfather used to say, "do something, even its wrong" .... meaning sometimes you just have to give things a try, even if they aren't the "exact right thing to do". Looks like you gave something a shot and it worked out great! Good for you.

    Hello new to tinboats

I agree. Put it in the water and measure. Its the only way to know for sure.

    patch repair

Definitely clean the entire area all the way down to bare aluminum. Use mineral spirits or something to make sure all the oils and junk are removed. Scuff it up with a clean stainless steel brush and then apply your epoxy. But you'd be better off cleaning it up like I said and having it welded.

    Green Boat - Opinions

Why not just get a canoe or kayak and paddle it. Can't get much more green than that. On a side note, I bought a 16w four panel solar charger to keep my phone and gopro charged while on the boat. Its works OK, but its a LOT slower than plugging it to the wall. If you really want a green way...

Really bad corrosion. How to stop it?

I've had really good luck finding off-road or race shops who will do one-off welding jobs pretty cheap. If you do all the prep work, and do it well, they can weld all that stuff up in about an hour .... couple hundred bucks tops.

    is my motor too big?

Overpowering boats comes up a lot. Its usually illegal, voids warranties, nullifies insurance coverage, and can potentially result in hefty fines or worse. However, its also usually relatively safe and won't cause anyone any problems. You have to decide for yourself how much you want the...
