hi first time poster with a couple modification questions

Its probably best to get off all the old paint and primer, taking it all the way down to bare metal. Any way you look at it, removing old paint is messy and time consuming. Aircraft stripper, power washers, power tools, etc are all good, but in the end you'll still have to bust out some good...

deep v-hull starcraft boat project, help needed

You have a good platform to work with there. There are a lot of different ways to modify your boat. Some are better than others, but there aren't really any wrong ways. In the end, most guys end up sitting in their boat for hours just thinking .... and then start building from the ideas they...

St Lawrence River - Smallies & Walleye

I spent a few days on the St. Lawrence fishing by myself for smallies and walleye. I caught a bunch of really nice fish on a dropshot rig on shoals close to deep water. One of the smallies almost jumped in my boat - watch the video below to see it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW79f3-xANk

    How to fix this?

Um, did you forget that on the previous page of this post, you agreed with Jmichael that soldering and using heat shrink tubing was the correct way to fix the OP's problem?

    My Tracker 1542 project

I've had both hulls. There really isn't that much difference between the two. Personally I preferred the extra width to the extra length. Its going to come down to how the boat is laid out. One more thing .... BassTracker is one of the more common makers of the 1542 hull. They seem nice...

    How to fix this?

A cheap little soldering kit from the hardware store .... some wire strippers .... a pack of heat shrink tubes .... and a lighter Takes about ten minutes start to finish and you'll have an excellent fix. Plus, soldering and using heat shrink tubes is actually a lot of fun.

    6 hp Evenrude questions

Yup, doing a full on-water test is certainly the best way to go. But its pretty rare that someone selling a 30 year old 6 HP outboard for $400 is going to take the time and effort to do that. Its usually just a cash and carry type of deal. I sold an identical motor last fall for $400. I had...

    Old Gunfight Rules

This is exactly why you should just go get the permit. If the need arises and you want to carry .... doing so could land you in jail ... which isn't fair to your family. I hear what you are saying about the 2nd amendment ... but our government doesn't follow the constitution anymore. You owe...

    '76 Starcraft Semi V

That's a great looking boat and you seem to be pretty good at working with the wood. My only recommendations would be the following: 1. Definitely seal ALL of the wood. Once you have built the whole frame, you can just take it out ... seal it ... .and set it back in place. 2. I would at...
