    Re-purposed aviation fuel tanks

Your reply made me remember they were also using the smaller fuel tanks for the streamlined body of Bonneville Salt Flats cars. 8)

Should I fix it or leave it alone?

10 years and no leaks, I would leave it.

1995 Grumman 1784 TC Complete Rebuild

Nice project, I have been thinking about doing something similar but retaining only one console in it's present location or further back as a CC. Please keep us posted with your progress.

Down by me Sea Arks are popular for oystering so they must be tough. 8)

Felt a bump and next thing I know...

I'm not familiar with that line of boats but the OP states that it is aluminum.

Felt a bump and next thing I know...

If it doesn't work you can always sell the hull for scrap, come away with a few $$$$ and a trailer.

    Wrong size wrench! No problem.

I started turning wrenches on 60's muscle cars and never cared for metrics. Burma, Liberia and the U.S. are the only countries that have not adopted the metric standard and for good reason ... the rest of the world is wrong ! ...... lol

    Help mounting new motor please

It appears you are concerned about possible theft issues. Remember one thing if you can put it on someone can take it off especially with today's battery operated saws and metal cutting wheels. I knew a guy that was in the home repair business. He had gotten a call from someone with a hole in...

Added an extension onto my trailer tongue

"My latest addition (1648 Lowe tinny) came with a relatively short tongue on its trailer. I quickly got tired of dipping my van's wheels and exhaust pipe into the salt water every time I had to launch her". I am amazed at how many guys think nothing of backing their vehicles into salt water and...

Just in case you thought that padlock was safe...

I've used the same lock for years first on the hatch cover of several sailboats and now on the ball coupler on my trailer. I also lock the ball mount and peen the threads over on the ball under the mount. Never have had a problem and short of using a cutting torch someone will have a tough time...

    Mini Towers ?

Thought about building one for my Lund until I remembered my 25 Yamaha has manual tilt that gets used a bit with all the oyster rakes down my way. [-X

    Lateen rigged john?

After relocating I found the inshore waters to be full of sand bars and oyster rakes and not suited for sailing. Not being able to afford a sailing vessel suited for offshore I settled for a 16' skiff with 25 hp. to fish the rivers and creeks but I do miss the sound of wind through the sails. It...

Even if they only last a season or two at that price who cares. This is a great idea.

Added PVC DIY Slick--strips to my bunks today. Under $15.00

"I like the idea on this install that the screws go in from the sides. NO chance of them screwing up my hull if they were to back out". Using plain fir bunks it's likely that the countersunk screws would loosen up eventually. Screws on the side give some invaluable piece of mind.
