    fuel demand valve

Rich, I read your thread : https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=39965. and this one on the Whaler site: https://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/021090.html The old Italian woman in the movie was correct "This is a Catcha 22" Now I understand why some people get...

    fuel demand valve

Recently installed a new portable gas tank in my boat with the EPA regulated cap. After a period of time I realized that the tank pressure had pushed over a gallon of gas through the carb and on the ground. Installing a FDV and I understand the concept but pressure is still going to build in the...

    Tackle organizing?

"I take too much stuff out with me....that's a fact." Sounds like my brother, he has all his inshore and off shore stuff in one huge tackle bag. Problem is he can never find what he needs ...he's not the most organized guy.

    Tackle organizing?

Like most small boats mine has very little storage and I do not like clutter on a boat. After relocating to a new area I realized that for my fishing I used only a small portion of what was in my tackle bag and decided to down size. I picked up an inexpensive little pouch that has room for the...

Ever have a problem starting an aluminum or Stainless screw?

Back in the day we used a thing called dum dum. It was like play dough for adults in the automotive field. Mainly used it to fix rain leaks or to stop something rattling in cars and trucks. Many times I put it on a screwdriver to hold a screw or in a socket for a bolt.

Meyers 14ft question about removing the bench seats

The bench seats in small boats serve 3 purposes, 1- a place to sit 2- aid in hull integrity 3- usually are filled with foam to aid in prevent sinking if the boat becomes swamped. If you need to remove a bench seat, some form of side to floor bracing will need to be installed and any foam...

One of the best tools I bought for my tinny..under ten bucks

I also bought one on a whim with no immediate need. Decided to move my TM battery forward requiring two 3/4" holes in each of the 9 ribs to install grommets and run 6 gauge wire. It took longer to install the grommets than the 10 minutes to drill and enlarge the holes.

Someone take me to school on deck framing!

Personally I always use ss bolts and locking nuts wherever possible, not likely to loosen up. Where I can't use them I revert to ss screws. Forgot to mention use a neoprene washer between the ss and aluminum to prevent electrolysis.

    Holes in aluminum boat!!

Considering you only paid $300 my choice of options would be B first, then C and lastly A. Concerning option A, I removed the aerator inlet and drain on my boat and used stainless fender washers, stainless nut and bolt with neoprene washers and 5200 to seal the holes .... worked just fine.

What size gas tank do you use?

16' with a Yamaha 4 stroke and a 3 gallon tank to save space. I rarely use more than 1- 1+1/2 gallons a day but do carry a small 1 gallon back up ... just in case.

How do i remove unwanted paint from hull.

Years ago someone spray painted white graffiti on my son's girlfriends dark green car. I used either automotive polishing or rubbing compound (can't remember which) and got all the unwanted paint off. I do remember it took a lot of elbow grease ... good luck !

Transom saver on a 14' jon with 6hp?

When I was sailing, many years ago, my 20 footer had a 5 hp Mariner on it for getting in and out of the slip. I removed it when towing as others have said.

    4.80x12 tire pressure??

Just picked up a new EZ Loader with 4.80 x 12s. The 81 year old gentleman that owns the trailer sales went over the trailer checked the lights and air in the tires. He looked at the tires and said, "Yep, they get 60 lbs". I thought that was a lot and he said to me, "Son (had to laugh because I'm...

    Rebar anchor spike?

Shipping oversize items especially long items can be very pricey. For the heck of it I went to the USPS site and calculated shipping an 8' pole in an 8'x4"x4" box from S.C. to Atlanta (not expedited shipping) was $67 dollars with out insurance !

    Rebar anchor spike?

A short piece of line with loops at both ends is my simple way of attaching the anchor pin to the boat. One loop over any cleat on the boat and drop the pin through the other

    Rebar anchor spike?

Depending on the length needed there is no reason why it wouldn't work. Where I fish we normally have 7-8 tides so rebar in that situation would be a bit heavy. I am in no way connected with this company but did purchase the parts to make a pin anchor. It works great, you can add to it's length...

    looking for rod holder inventions

My tiller steer boat has 3 factory pedestal seat mounts but I only use 2 so I removed the bottom rubber portion of one of the pedestals and screwed it to a piece of 1+1/2" pvc and then added 4 rod holders (only 3 in this pic.). When ever needed I just pop this into the unused seat base.

    tm battery relocation

Listening to some of the folks here that are very knowledgeable and looking at the Minn Kota chart I think 8 or 10 may be too light with a battery and motor at opposite ends. For my boat I'm going with at least 6 gauge (maybe 4) and installing an inline breaker. Every install is not the same but...
