    6, 9.9, 15HP on a 12ft tinner

Things that are slowing you down. Total weight. Weight distribution. Wrong propeller. Wrong engine height. You can improve speed and handling by adjusting these variables so that your engine is running wide open throttle in its recommended wide open throttle (WOT) range. Past that, there are...

    Good alternative to plywood?

The panels I made for my Jon boat have held up great. One inch thick polystyrene foam with fiberglass reinforced plastic epoxied to both sides. Super strong with minimal support needed.

    Millennium Seats.....Worth the price?

Yes, they are a bit pricey, but relative to the difference you are paying vs a decent quality vinyl, they are hands down worth the extra bucks. I actually have two. One mounted, and one I can take in and out of the 1436. I think I paid $99 for one of mine, and about $110 for the other. Play...

    Millennium Seats.....Worth the price?

I have back issues and would rather sit in my millennium seats than most seats in my house. They are great. Mine stay out in the elements and appear to be holding up well. I think they are great.

    1240 flat bottom with a 6hp speed?

I have the 9.8 Tohastsu on my 1436. It is a sweetheart of an engine. The boat is mildly modified, but I fish solo, so I'm probably lighter than a stock boat with two people. I got 21 once but normally Max is 19-20 mph. I first had a Tohastsu 5hp with a 6hp carburetor. Max with that engine was...

Dad used to say thin skins and thick heads go together! That being said, thill has the perfect perspective on this.

Alumacraft 1436LT & Tohatsu 9.8 props and speeds

I am posting this as a resource to others that may follow me. My Jon boat conversion project is pretty much complete and I've been tuning for max speed, as I live on a large lake. I purchased a 2020 Tohatsu 9.8 four-stroke locally. There were some issues with a dirty carburetor, but once...

    Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?

Are those mounting feet I see on the charger base? There have been inconsistent reports on the body of the charger they are sending out now. Since the charger is engineered to be mounted in the same environment as the battery, it would make sense if there were cast-in lugs to fasten the...

    Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?

I think that as long as you follow proper charging practices and keep it from freezing that you'll be happy. I still kept a relay on my setup since the battery can provide a lot more amps than the TM motor can take. Good luck!

1436 with 15hp Johnson speed questions

My 1436 started out with a 6 hp. It would barely do 11 mph. A tach, two props, and some rearranging and it would do 14. You want to be on plane at the upper end of the rpm range of the engine. It could be that you have one prop for loaded down, and a different prop for running light. Tilt pin...

    Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?

The Epoch site had it on sale for the fourth of July. It is back at 299.00. if you subscribe to their news letter they will send you a discount code. I paid about 297 shipped with the code and received the battery the day after I ordered it. They also offer discount codes via Facebook. For me...

    Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?

I will say that it has been a long time since I have trusted Amazon reviews, especially since they started the third party sales. That being said, I think that a good number of the batteries available are good enough for our purposes. I've spent so much on my boat, motor, and fishing gear...

    Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?

Just an update on my Epoch 50AH in my 1436 Jon. I have an Edge 45 trolling motor. I have fished over six hour and still show 80% remaining capacity. My speed on forward 1 is almost too fast for me now. Forward 5 is very fast. Losing 40+ pounds and hiding the battery under the casting deck...

    Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?

It also comes with a hardwired gauge that gives you an real-time visual check on the remaining capacity. I'll mount this where it is easily seen from the casting deck. The only real negative is that they package the 50AH, 100AH and 200AH in the same case. It will fit under my casting deck...
