Stability of Jon & V hull boats

I have a 12/36 flat bottom jon and it is a lot more stable that my brother-laws V bottom as far as fishing and moving around in it. His is a noticeable smoother and my flat bottom is a pretty rough ride at times. I can stand up and fish with my dog moving around in the boat and he is 80lb. I...

    hydrofoil or not?

I made mine out plexiglass , but it's only a 6hp. Couldn't find anything small enough for a 6hp that I thought wouldn't cause too much drag. Not really a hydrofoil just a bigger anti cavitation plate, it helped out.

    The truth about Bait casters

I switched to bait casters few years ago, after I learned how the reel worked. I started out with short easy casts. Smooth swings when casting, works best for me, the short snap cast I seem to get more birds nest.

    Braided line with leaders

Been practicing knots this evening. I've noticed the braid doesn't slide down and tighten like mono, if you get a loop out on the braid, it will pull apart. And my clippers don't cut it very well, going to have to pick up some small scissors.

Are trailer bunk brackets always needed?

I used small carriage bolts and counter sunk them in the wood. Don't need to be very big pressure is pushing down, boat should easy and not drag, which is the only thing that would put pressure on the bolts. Forgot to mention... A 2x4 is it's weakest laying on it side... My trailer had a center...

Are trailer bunk brackets always needed?

I took the brackets off and laid the 2x4's flat, and put one down the middle, I've got a flat bottom jon. Like marshman said, I just made sure they were between the ribs. It lowered the boat over 4" and seems to be more solid on the trailer.
