It looks like someone meant to put the holes there, but why? Fish freak might be right, looks like the size of a pick axe or spud, but I would think around the hole would damaged more. One is under the seat right? Is that the foam we see through the hole in one of the pictures.

I run a 12/36 with a 9.8 4-stroke, It will hold a little over 4 gallons but I usually run about 3 in it. If I'm going far I will carry a 1 gallon back up.
