Where to keep fish? ? ?

You know how many times I've heard it said that fish taste better when caught through the ice? Think about what is done with fish once caught. When they are put directly on ice, they taste better. The baskets that you hang over the side are ok but stress live fish. Livewells simply make them...

Looking for organizational ideas, 14' semi v cluttered.

First thing I would ditch is the cat. The only things I can stand to have above deck when I'm on the lake are rods, a net, plano tackle tray, and my beer. Everything else is stowed in the compartments below my floor and the large front compartment. I need my open space in the boat - sometimes...

    G3 1652 VBW - New Setup Help

Pretty sure there's wood under there. I cut a hole for a storage hatch in my front deck and cut through metal, an extra layer of metal in spots, and either 3/4 or 5/8 plywood. This was an Alumacraft with the same factory layout.

    TM too tall?

If you stand on that front deck to fish and it's in your way then it's too tall. I think anything highet than knee height and I would cut it down. Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk

How I added decks, storage, and floor to Alumacraft 1442NCS

Depending on if a buddy wants to buy this boat or not (he does, just probably doesn't want to give me what I have to have for it), I will be redoing it for myself. I'm going to lower the floor back down as low as possible and use just a lightweight material to support carpet over the foam that...

Long shaft bow-mount trolling motor on small jon boat

The Minn Kota Maxxum 70 is what I think I'm settled on upgrading to. The 70 is a 24v. The boat is a 1442. I know the 70 probably isn't necessary but it is the model that has all the basic features I'm looking for: variable speed, power optimizer, short-ish shaft at 42". I could get these...

How I added decks, storage, and floor to Alumacraft 1442NCS

It is all sealed with three coats of spar urethane. For anyone wanting in-floor rod storage, I'd like to post a disclaimer: while I'm pleased with the finished look of what I have done, practicality has made me want to redo it. Please analyze your process from loading to launching to fishing...

Outrageous idea? Lightweight floor and decking FOAM

Picture this: wrapping and gluing carpet to a foam sheet, then laying it flat on an aluminum floor and walking on it. Then suppose it gets rained on a few times and you continue to walk on it. Any issues with the foam board?

Outrageous idea? Lightweight floor and decking FOAM

Certainly laying a sheet of any substrate being it wood or metal or FRP over the top of a sheet of foam would not raise issue and is a very common practice. I am specifically trying to figure out usefulness of the foam itself as the overlying material to be wrapped in carpet as the finished layer.

    Deck framing with rigid foam

Gorilla Glue construction adhesive - comes in a caulk tube - works on foam boards. It also works on aluminum and almost anything else. This would be the correct adhesive for foam board. DAP also makes a foam board adhesive as well as Loctite PL.

Who has Weldbilt boat? Picture of boat added, what I want

The motor you are thinking of is Tohatsu. It is a Nissan. They are 4-strokes though, but they claim they are very light. I've been looking at 20hp Tohatsu myself and it comes in at 115 lbs. Whereas a 20hp Yamaha 2-stroke is only 10 lbs lighter!

Outrageous idea? Lightweight floor and decking FOAM

Comparing weights of materials - the FRP would be good application for my SIPS inspired decking and compartment wall idea. Maintenance-free and lighter compared to a thin plywood. With more research into the foamular150 insulation, I have no qualms about its weatherability. I will look at...

Outrageous idea? Lightweight floor and decking FOAM

I see that is a pourable foam. Did you create a mold to make panels out of it? I am mainly inquiring about closed cell insulating foam sheets such as the pink Owens Corning and carpeting directly over that. You used FRP but a sheet of that is pretty heavy.

Long shaft bow-mount trolling motor on small jon boat

My searches have brought up questions and answers regarding what shaft length or overall size of trolling motor to get for specific boat size applications. The consensus seems to be that longer is better so that you can keep the propeller submerged in rough water conditions. For fishing, having...

Outrageous idea? Lightweight floor and decking FOAM

I have been wanting to reconfigure my boat. My first attempt at a build was fall of 2015. I used wood and carpet and what I thought were innovative ideas to save weight with this material. I recently shared my 1442 NCS project on here https://www.forum.tinboats.net/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=42208...

    Deck framing with rigid foam

I bet that'll work great - that lightweight criss-cross bracing concept is used in a lot of things. One big disadvantage to it in a boat though is having no under-deck storage.

Adding through holes for throttle & shift cables

Looks like cutting a 1" hole front and back and using a rubber grommet would work great.
