    Upped My Game

I love killin' it on frogs! That looks like a good one. What is the joint made of that allows the legs to pump?

    Newest toy

My dad tows the same way! Except his camper is a bit smaller, but his boat is a bit bigger. The overall length restriction is 65 ft. here. You know that's not really camping, right?

    tarps or cover

I did a similar thing before I saw this link. I used 3/4" PVC and used Tees on each end to make, a, um, tee by extending 12 inches forward and back. Makes a big wide "H", and I bend these and wedge them under the rim of the boat on both sides. I use 3 of them, front, middle, back. The "tee"...

Battery at one end of boat, elec. motor at other - wiring?

Minn Kota had agreed to replace the motor if the same problem ever re-occurred. I took it back to the dealer and they were happy to get on the phone and get a new one ordered at no charge for me. I called them back later and asked if they'd allow me to upgrade if I paid the retail difference...

    Annual Motorcycle trip

I'm pleased to see you and your wife suiting up in proper riding gear (albeit, open-fingered gloves) for your excursions. Ride safe!

Battery at one end of boat, elec. motor at other - wiring?

Ran the motor for about 15 minutes total on Saturday with no problems. Sunday was very windy and was running regularly, and started acting up again after being on the lake for about an hour. Died completely several times and was on/off/on/off/on/off all the way back to the boat launch. I'm...

New (to me) boat and it has lipped seats. Casting deck ques.

My 2015 Alumacraft, and all others that I considered, have bench seats shaped just like that. You have to support the deck by building up from the floor.

Battery at one end of boat, elec. motor at other - wiring?

The extent of the work they did was: "empty out water, clean and dry internal parts, replace seals & re-assemble, run in tank for 20 min with no issues". I spoke with the owner of the shop - this is the same place I bought the boat and motor from, and expressed that my concerns are very...

Battery at one end of boat, elec. motor at other - wiring?

Going to my favorite electric-only lake only 5 miles from my house tonight! Of course I'm taking the oars as well. I'm really gonna pester the shop about what was all replaced, worried that there's damage done that will cause it to crap out permanently one week after the warranty expires. You...

Battery at one end of boat, elec. motor at other - wiring?

Update to my situation. The trolling motor was broken! I did rewire the boat using 4ga wire, good crimp connectors, heat shrink, and tape. But now my motor is in the shop being repaired under warranty. There was water inside of it which was causing its problems. I can pick it up tomorrow and...

    Plywood subfloor

CDX is a good choice since you're carpeting over it. Seal it very good. Get the edges real good. I used 3 coats of Helmsman spar urethane. Let it dry completely between coats. On top of that, exterior carpet adhesive that is the consistency of peanut butter adds another barrier of protection...

25hp 2 stroke mercury tiller handle help

I'm familiar with that tiller handle since I just bought one on ebay to use for parts for my 8hp tiller. I could not locate any 8hp tiller handles so I figured a handle from another small Merc (9.9 - 25) would work. Well, I made it work. It came with 4 washers and they're all the same. I have a...

    Big LM Bass

I had to avoid the main lake as there was just far too much boat traffic for my little boat. Excluding that, even the bays and channels contained far too many kids/teens who were borrowing their rich daddy's boats yelling and screaming profanities while drinking beer for what must have been the...

Front or rear mount trolling motor

If you can afford the bow mount that is the way to go. I'm running a transom mount on my 14 footer simply due to expense, and I plan on selling the motor with the boat when I make my next boat purchase, and that will have a bow mount. If you want to spend all your time trying to control your...

does anyone have this little harbor freight trailer?

I know this is an old thread, and it looks like the original issues have been addressed. However, I wanted to chime in about Harbor Freight trailers! The one that's pictured in the original post - that's a 48x48. I have one that I modified to be a single-motorcycle hauler by running a plank...

    Fuel tank ground

I was not aware of these issues when filling your boat fuel tank! I leave my small metal fuel tank in the boat and always refill it by pouring the fuel in from a plastic jug. Is there a problem with doing it this way?

How I solved the short driveway / long truck issue

A laser that is aimed to line up with a piece of tape on the dashboard, or a fixed point on the car, is the solution to the trip hazard. Works inside the garage too. Home depot has systems for this that are motion activated.
