68 9.5 rude just wont rev out.

And that right there was what I was talking about in another thread about Sierra coils just the other day.

Now that one made me laugh.

    What plug are you using?

1956 Evinrude Lark 30 HP Tear down

I have been guilty of using their water pumps really with no issues. Coils is what I hate especially on old smaller engines. I don’t know if it just my luck or what but their fit usually has been terrible and I spent more time fitting them than the actual job should have taken. Never that issue...

1956 Evinrude Lark 30 HP Tear down

Their ignition part are great if you like to make them custom fit. Or let the flywheel grind them down. Their carb kits are good also, if you don't need a complete kit.

1996 Evinrude 40 surges at lower speeds

My guess if it was sucking air or fuel pump it would be worse full throttle. I am guessing carb ajdustment or cleaning.

New species of junk fuel line! Went from silver to blue.

I haven't seen any blue but you are correct, that is exactly what the silver looked like when it would separate.

    96 Johnson 30 hp idle

It is a very primitive way to do it but you can run one of those at night or in a dark shop and if they are arcing to ground many times you will see it. Of course there are plenty of places they will be doing it that you can't see. But I have also seen motors that you could take the cowl off at...

    Johnson 30hp Help

That head doesn't really look that bad. You have one place that looks real suspect that the gasket may have been leaking. The pic. isn't great, but it is suspect. Appears to have been leaking to the outside.

    Flat Bottom or Semi V

I think you will find the selection for true 'flat' bottom boats in the size you want very slim. I think about all of them will be at least mod. V.

    2006 90 hp Yamaha 4 stroke

I don't know what class a 25 falls in but I got one once that stuff was on as a fuel line to the tank. It would suck completely flat.

    The gray is junk.

    2006 90 hp Yamaha 4 stroke

Fuel delivery always comes to mind when one runs fine low speed or without a load. Loose fittings, cracked lines, clogged filter and screens are all suspect. That is the simple things to check before it gets more complex.

    Mercury 110 9.8 carburetor

Depending on how old of motor it is yes, you will have to replace the gaskets, the older ones had cork gaskets and they were pretty much one time use anyway. Those were pretty simple carbs and on the scale of carbs I would rate them "easy".

    Mercury 60 Bigfoot

If I didn't get but a teaspoon of water out I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion that it had any blown gaskets. Depending on where the motor has been setting it could possibly just be condensation. I would carry on with a full compression check before I did anything drastic and hoped...

What oil to use in a lower unit?

90 wt will work, true lower unit oil has additives in it where in case water does come in the picture it will still hold up much better. That is somewhat primitive in describing it but true.

New to Boating - Outboard Motor Question (help!)

I spent many hours in a boat like that for work, very stabil and seaworthy but HEAVY. If you are going to make any long runs or pull any tubes or skiers you better get as large as the data plate allows.

    Stainless props on small engines..

I run SS prop on a 25 because I run in places I was all the time hitting stuff and got tired of fixing and replacing props. I never notice that they "robbed" me of any power. I have since made this to stop hitting stuff so whatever I use as prop material is a moot point. https://flic.kr/p/27sQ8Bv

So my co worker got hosed.....H.A.R.D!!!

I hope he didn't pay more than scrap price because if that bottom is painted with the same paint that is exactly what he has.

    Timing for early Johnnyrudes

There is one other thing you could do. You can make a steel or aluminum adapter plate to go on the side of the engine where the original pump came off. Tap it for a 1/4" barb fitting and then go buy a OEM Briggs and Stratton pulse pump, they will be only slightly bigger than that factory pump...
