    Which power tilt/trim?

If it were me from my experience with them in the past I would set the motor in the middle hole at three" and start there. That way you shouldn't be worrying about transom holes anyway. You still have some play with motor settings. Your instructions tell you what height to set the CMC unit which...

    Ultrasonic Parts Cleaners

I have not had anything to do with them in years. Bought one when they first came out and was not impressed at all. but I have heard they have made great improvements in them. Have some friends that swear by them now.

Closer to 3" with the setback.

    Aluminum brazing rod?

Most welders that do it regularly have a dedicated machine for aluminum and don't have to "set up". I have two set up at all times. One with a spool gun and one TIG.

I have a 25 on a 1448 Grizzly and it could stand more without any problem.

    Pinholes in my transom

If it were me I would just take a plasma cutter and remove it and weld in a new one. But that is what I do. Putting one over it is a PITA and unsightly and you still have the additional weight of the old one there and it really will serve no purpose.

    Pinholes in my transom

Do yourself a favor, replace that transom. If it was cleaned fully you would find more. That isn't to mention the areas that it has decomposed down to half thickness. I do aluminum repairs and see this pretty often.

    Yep, dirt dobber.

    1993 Yamaha 15MSHR

I would just about bet that clog when you get it out is caused by a dirt dobber. Get after it with a stiff piece of wire or take a small drill bit and just twist it in your fingers. If you start removing dirt particles you will know what you are dealing with and proceed accordingly. You may take...

98 johnson 50 hp spl any good

The OMCs are good motors and obviously you aren't worried about fuel consumption so it may be worth it. I would bet when it is all said and done there won't be 2-3 MPH difference one way or another when you get through. My 1448 is the wide open hull design, it doesn't have the middle seats in...

98 johnson 50 hp spl any good

If I am not mistaken the motor weighs around 190#. That boat is rated for a 30HP motor. His boat, he can do as he pleases. As far as the motor they were good motors, but I'll promise you on a jet it will be loud and a fuel hog, count on that.

98 johnson 50 hp spl any good

You better have a darn big fuel tank. Not to mention that will be quite a bit of weight hanging off the back of that boat, I have one. You will most certainly have to make sure to keep as much of your stuff to the front of the boat or it will have a heavy list to the back.

    Which power tilt/trim?

I have had three CMCs on different motors/boats. The key to them is mounting the relays where they will not get wet. I mount mine in completely weatherproof containers usually in dry compartments. I have never had any issues with mine. But have worked on some that the relays were exposed and if...

86 or 92 Mercury 9.9 Cold Start Problems

Spraying starter fluid on a fitting won't find a leak first off. Then you need to find out of the choke/primer is working depending on what that particular motor has. If it has a primer I suspect that is where you are seeing the bubbles in the line and if it isn't seated correctly or if the...

Need lower unit for Johnson 48 SPL (1993 model)

That LU fits several engines. There used to be several marine salvage places down your way. One used to advertise on CraigsList fairly often that had a bunch of OMC stuff. You should be able to find one relatively easy.

    New mercury 40hp

I have the same boat and it wanted to porpoise bad when my motor set in the stock position. I added tilt and trim and it was aftermarket thus it has a 5” back set and it stopped it. But I also have two batteries up under the front deck and made a fuel tank that goes all the way across behind...
