I was told that I could use a Beard trimmer to shave down the carpet on the edges of my compartments. I got a Wahl trimmer and it wont cut the carpet. Has anyone used a trimmer that worked good?

I've been wanting to start a build thread for some time now but I havent had the time. So now that the boat is all but done I'll start the thread. LOL After a LOT of cleaning this is how the boat looked the day I brought it home.

I have 2 sheets of 2'' pink foam and 8 cans of "Fill and seal" spray foam. I plan to use some combination of both foams ti replace the foam on my boat. Am I on the right track. BTW this spray foam is waterproof and closed cell.
