Carpet trimmer?

I was told that I could use a Beard trimmer to shave down the carpet on the edges of my compartments. I got a Wahl trimmer and it wont cut the carpet.

Has anyone used a trimmer that worked good?

I just stripped the carpet out of my boat with an oscillating Porter Cable tool. I put the scraper blade on and off it came. I the few places carpet is staying I guided it along the edge and it made a nice clean cut.

No I just replaced the carpets I just need to trim the length of it so my compartments fit.

This carpet has longer fibers.
