    Lightweight battery for kayak

What do you guys recommend to power a 40 lb. thrust motor on my kayak ? I currently use a group 24 battery, and I want something lighter weight. Thanks.

    Fixing leaky rivets

I'm looking at a 1982, 1448 Lowe Big Jon on Craigslist, and the ad says there are a few leaking rivets. Generally, is this a minor thing, an easy repair ? It's about an hour away from me, and I'm wondering if it's worth the drive to look at it. Do you suggest putting the boat in the water...

    Lumber for trailer bunks

I plan to mount 2X4's lying flat on the top of my trailer frame, and then mount bunk sliks on top of that. I was going to bolt treated lumber to my galvanized trailer frame, but was told the treated lumber would make the galv. trailer frame rust. The 2x4's will lay flat on top of trailer frame...

    Galvanized bolts and treated lumber

I thought about 2X4 cedar, but I didn't think it would be strong enough. It needs to span 42.5"(lying flat) between the 2 trailer frame members. Would 2X4 cedar be strong enough? Or can I use some sort of barrier between the galv. trailer and treated lumber? Thanks

Do I really need a winch?

A pain to use? What does that mean? I wouldn't want to be without a winch.

Where to install keel roller ?

Thanks. It's always been about 1/2 way between bow stop/rest and bunks. Due to the design of the trailer, if I put bunks on longer than 4' they will be unsupported.

    Galvanized bolts and treated lumber

Thanks. The treated 2X4's won't touch the boat. I'm going to bolt treated 2X4's on top of my galvanized trailer frame, and then put 1/2" thick bunk sliks on top of the 2X4's, totally covering the wood.

    Galvanized bolts and treated lumber

Is it OK to use galvanized bolts with treated lumber? Or is stainless steel a must? Thanks.
