Been away for a while, sold my 14ft mirrocraft, and upgraded to a toon...hey still a tinny right!? I think I posted it before, but I included the Mirrocraft I had before upgrading to the Party Barge

I say if you can get the $700 for your motor and only be out $500 for the Merc 15, then go for it, but it was listed as a long shaft...not sure what your transom length was, but double check you won't run into any issues.

Personally I have a Tohatsu 2-stroke and it has been a great reliable motor and seems to be a tank. I know a lot of people love 4-strokes for the quietness, but running a 25-30mph ain't nothing quiet, so for me it works. I didn't know you can still get new 2-strokers though.

This is a great idea, I was actually getting prepared to have to re-carpet my bunks, but this will save a lot of time, effort, and expense plus a desired after effect of easier launches and retrievals. Thanks!! =D>

I am with some of the other comments, sell it and buy something that is going to work. Buy a proper tin that the 25hp will complement. IMHO any money spent on that boat to not do it right, will be wasted.

Well thanks for the tip about SS fasteners. I have been through so many threads and also see "only use SS" but not sure I remember seeing specifically to add washers to isolate. Question, if the tin is painted, does it still matter?
