    I need a Saltwater Reds/Speck Spinning Reel/Rod Combo

My Penn Pursuit IV rod tip broke today. About 10” down from the tip. Not rods fault. It was hung up on something underwater and in the process of trying to get my $5 lure free, I somehow snapped it. First time I’ve broke a rod. This rod/reel (3000) has turned into my favorite bc of the medium...

    Small boat and cold water

That’s what I was amazed at. How they didn’t freeze to death. I guess they kept moving while swimming and walking keeping body temperature up.

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

Ran across this really good thorough 2 year review of 2022 Xpress 23 Bay. He talks about the trailer issues he has had. Pretty discouraging to say the least. In fact, the more he shows all the little problems with the whole boat, I would never pay the premium for a brand new Xpress. I honestly...

Considering a set of Load Guide Posts - Any Rec's?

I never even touch or focus on guides. I focus on the winch/rubber pulley thing. I back in trailer until the bunk carpet is all wet, then pull up until 1/3 of bunk is out the water. Then drive the boat up and use the throttle for last foot or so. Works good.

Considering a set of Load Guide Posts - Any Rec's?

Today I finally remembered to drop tailgate to back trailer down ramp. Worked really well.🤦‍♂️🤣

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

My dealer has War Eagle and Crestliner. I like them both. Was told by dealer Crestliner doesn’t make the Bay 22 anymore, so 20ft is the longest they make. I really like the Crestliner Bay 20cc. It’s really wide. Front deck pretty big. Cool modern look to it. War Eagle looks great too. I like the...

Considering a set of Load Guide Posts - Any Rec's?

I don’t really need the guide posts for retrieving boat, it’s for backing up the empty trailer. I can’t see the trailer at all in rear view mirror.

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

I was pretty set on a Express/Excel/Lowe/Avid type bay boat. However I hunt out of my boat. Last week I launched into the Atchafalaya and after running my boat up on the rocks to park it for the 5th time that day, it dawned on me that I couldn’t just do that with a $50k boat. I like not worrying...

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

Avid Fusion 23 has caught my eye. The lounge chairs on front deck and pop up table would be handy on the sand bar trips.

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

That would be the X23B Lounge. I need to go see the equivalent Avid. I really like the Crestliner Bay 20. Nice and wide. They don’t make anything bigger than that though. Lowe has nice looking boat too.

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

After thinking on it, I think the best plan is to keep my 18’ and get a bigger 24ft, like that Lounge series from Express. All issues solved. Now to convince wife…🤣

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

I was mistaken, it was an Excel that I looked at with the narrowish front deck.

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

Cool then. That is pretty good to hear. I definitely like the Avid. My main fishing buddy is a large man, together we take up a lot of space on the front deck. That is a concern though. I’m going to take my tape measurer and see what the front deck is actually size wise.

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

I was just referring to the Avid being in 12” as the specs say it can. With a normal load of fuel and gear. Not if you have ever been in shallow water.

Have you been in 12” of water?

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

I guess what I need to know is when a manufacturer says 14” draft, what is the real world number? I’m assuming any specifications are “dry” with no gear, fuel, etc in the boat. I want to know if anyone has a 22ft+ aluminum and if they can fish in shallow water.

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

I’m more concerned about bigger boats floating in shallow water. I’ll narrow it down once I know which boats will actually do what I need them to do.

Help me choose a 22’ aluminum bay boat

I believe it was an Avid I looked at a few weeks ago. The front deck was very narrow. 🤷‍♂️
