    Canoe Stabilizers

Today was the maiden voyage and I think in terms of a test run it was a success. They definitely improved floatation and stability. I stood up and rocked the canoe pretty aggressively and didnt fall in or break the arms. Their was some flex with the pvc but as long as I don't plan on doing...

    Canoe Stabilizers

I finally got it 90% done today. Next thing to figure out is how to keep the floats together (glue?) I was hoping to get some chopsticks or something similar to dowels that could hold the floats in place and keep them from rotating around the spine. Suggestions? Here are those pictures.

    Canoe Stabilizers

well unfortunately this weekend's plans got changed up a little bit. I had to help move some family into their new house and do some painting but I did get a chance to buy the materials. So today and maybe tomorrow will be the days to build it. It shouldn't be a long build I think the floats...

    Canoe Stabilizers

Alright so this weekend, granted that I have enough time, will be the weekend the stabilizers are constructed and maybe tested. I have changed my ideas a little because of material issues but part of doing this is thinking and learning on your feet. I'm pumped for it. I'll post some pictures...

15ft canoe or 1436 jon boat

I would agree with the popular vote and say go with the jon. I also have a canoe and while I love it for fishing solo and convenience, I feel way more stable fishing from a jon boat, especially a 14' jon. I have one of those too and fishing from that thing is awesome standing or sitting. If...

What size PVC did you use?

    Canoe Stabilizers

The foam I can get is insulation blue foam, to make a long story short, Dad is a commercial brick mason and its the foam that they put between the brick and wall, so I can get that stuff if I need it. I'm not sure if its closed cell but if its used for that I think it might work, I'll do some...

    Canoe Stabilizers

Yeah, SketchUp can only be so realistic and I didn't take the time to point the floats but I did intend to have them pointed. Good point though! EDIT : Something a little more like what this screenshot looks like I think.

    Canoe Stabilizers

Thanks for all the posts so far guys. While in class the today I was 'inspired' and drew up these quick blue prints if you wanna call them that. Then I mad a quick SketchUp model to kind of illustrate in 3D what I had in mind as far as the construction of the floats themselves is concerned...

    Canoe Stabilizers

I know this isn't really referring to a 'tin' boat but I love to fish out of my canoe and with the spring coming around I'm looking to try and make some stabilizers so I can flip cover standing up that some larger boats may not be able to get to. Anyone ever made these or know somewhere I could...

Time to get the motor running...

Anyone know about replacing the spark plugs after running seafoam in the gas?

Time to get the motor running...

So since school started back I have been MIA on this forum. So I guess I was wondering if anyone could answer my previous question and my new question. My previous question was if it mattered to run an 87, 89, or 93 grade gas to mix for a two stroke engine? And my new question is if, after...

Time to get the motor running...

After being gone for a while and working/sweating my butt off this summer, I finally get to update some progress I made with my boat. I FINALLY GOT THAT MOTOR RUNNING TODAY! Feels good to say that and its strange to think that all it took was some starter fluid in the intake to check for fire...

Project "Livin Large" (update July 19 - rocket launchers!)

Nice build you have here. I really like the precision you have going on. Few questions... Did you ever get the mini jacker sealed up tight? Could you notice a difference in performance?

    Underpowered?

Thats super helpful, this summer is gonna be my fix, test and analyze phase in getting that motor running. I've only got a few more days here at school and then I'll be able to work on it and spend some money :/ But it is my objective this summer to get that thing running like a top and...

    Alumacraft 1448MV - Catfish, Casting & Bowfishing

Is it possible that you could show us what the guide ons look like where they are attached to the trailer? I'm curious about how much of the ladder stabilizer is on the trailer and about how much is in the pvc pipe itself.

Best new 25 hp motor on market?

I second what Jim said as well. The manufacturer isn't usually what would be my top concern. I would be a little more focused on serviceability and support like Jim mentioned. I think evinrude makes a great engine, mine is older but still running like a champ. What ever you get just make...

    Underpowered?

Just to update, I got to go fishin this past weekend, no luck but did notice that the boat is a 1456 with a 20hp max rating. I dont know how accurate this is but the plate said it so I'm guessing that it is a light boat or the transom couldnt take it. Im not sure. Just thought I would throw...
