I recently bought this boat with nothing known. No title, never registered by the person I bought it from. I'm currently trying to get as much valid info as possible so I can do it right. Faded trace where the name ELGIN can be seen. 14 ft bow to stern. Reminence of a sticker top starboard transom (inside the boat). that's all I can find. any help would be appreciated.

Did you look here: https://forum.tinboats.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=47496

NOTE Elgin made both tin and fiberglass hulls, but for some reason they are only listed under frp boats, so see here: https://www.fiberglassics.com/library/index.php?title=Elgin

appears very similar to this one.

That front casting is unique and very fragile. I'd guess the one in the link above was broken off and ground down.

yes... looks a little bit like the '61, but grips for picking up the boat are different. Couldn't find anything after '61 to compare to.

found Sears catalogs online... found that the ELGIN name stopped being used on boats in '63. it was Sears from 1964 on. not sure, but I think it was called the "FISHERMAN ".

this is the site for sears catalogs for 5 decades

My Sea Nymph R-12 has the same art deco bow decoration .
It's from 1955 .

which means that Sea Nymph had to make Elgin boats. Mine still has the Elgin name on the sides...

got it...

using information found in another post and the distinctive bow casting, my boat is a 1961 Elgin FISHERMAN manufactured by Sea Nymph. I gave the information to Texas Parks and Wildlife and finally got it tagged and titled as such.

BTW... anyone with Elgin outboards really need to contact Art DeKalb if you need parts... if he don't have it... it would seriously surprise me.
