I'll post pics as soon as possible. It's actually 13' 5" by 30 ". I'm starting from scratch and need a little guidance.

Floor: I'm assuming a deck is not safe because the boat is narrow. Any suggestions on how to lay the floor?

Paint: I'm going to sand it down and give it a good scrubbing. What kind of paint can I use. Money is tight so I need the poor man paint.

Seats: anybody have any experience with how high the seats can be safely?

Existing benches: the rear bench is a little close to the transom, is it safe to remove the bench and mount a pedestal seat?

Stabilize: tips on how to stabilize are needed.

Thank you all and I will post pics asap

Welcome Sparsons and to your fishing partner in the boat! I too have a narrow tin, 1636, so Ill be happy to share my pains with you and hope to hear of your successes! :)

For the flooring, I would stay low, as in some decking mounted right on the ribbing. Some guys even place 3/4"-1" foam board in between metal floor and decking. There are a lot of examples out there on tinboats. I would read the article posted about decking the bow and stern of the boat first before doing. The article has some good tips on decking, when and when not too - https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9074. This may also help on your seat sizing/height too.

I am NOT going to recommend removing the rear bench as I have no experience in matter or impact on stability.

For the paint, I have read around the forum and researched brands like Duralux and other marine paints, but it appears you can get a gallon of Parker Paint (various colors) for $35 direct from site (more than enough for your boat). I called to place order and staff was very helpful! With your boat, just sand/rough surface with 120-220 grit paper, clean, prime and paint. I'm going thru that process now.

Good luck and keep the pics coming!

Panfried had some good advice. I have a little bigger boat than yours, 1648, but I'll chime in with hopefully some help.

You could add a deck, I would just reccomend keeping it low for better stability. I'd also suggest aluminum sheet if your ok with the cost of it. Much lighter than wood and will last longer as well. Either way will work fine though and there are tons of examples on here of how guys attached/laid their wood or aluminum floor

Like Panfried I also went with the Parkers duck boat paint. Will be painting mine this weekend, so I can't speak for the performance of it just yet. You could also go with any oil based enamel like rustoleum. Only reason I went with Parkers is because I'm going to be doing a camo stencil on my boat and I couldn't find a flat oil based enamel in the color I wanted at any of the big box stores. For prep sand down any areas that are chipping to bare aluminum. Also give the entire boat a light sanding just to rough up the old paint. Apply some self-etching primer to the bare aluminum spots. Rub down the entire boat with acetone, paint thinner, etc. then your ready for paint.

You can throw a lawn chair or something similar in your boat to see what height your comfortable with.

Existing benches: the rear bench is a little close to the transom, is it safe to remove the bench and mount a pedestal seat? I removed the middle bench in my boat. But I wouldn't remove the rear bench. After I removed my middle bench there is a slight bit of "flex" along the gunnels where the bench was. Nothing bad by any means, and barely noticable, but I'd imagine removing the rear bench would compromise the structure of the boat MUCH more.

Stabilize: tips on how to stabilize are needed.
I have zero experience with these, but some guys add pods to the transom of their boats to increase stability and help offset motor weight. Do a search on here for pods.
