Hello all.

I just purchased a 1956 Lone Star Admiral Deluxe with original(?) 40hp Johnson Javelin engine. The hull is in good shape but will need some rewiring and probably a new cable for the steering. It was too cold to start the engine but pulling the starter rope showed it had compression and under the cowl it looks nice and clean.

The plan is to convert it to electric using the Epropulsion Navy 6.0 10-hp equivalent and run it on our small 100 acre lake in Southwest Michigan.

I saw there were a couple of threads about this boat that I'll be checking out.

Nice to meet everyone and thanks in advance for any advice or information I get from y'all.

Cool ride!
I also have an Admiral, though a '57.
That Deluxe layout was a one-year-only design. Very nice!

For what it's worth, your Javelin is also a '56 but it's 30hp. Another one-year-only design, by the way.

Thanks for the info. How do you know it's a 56 and the horsepower? I'm not debating you, just curious how to determine that.

Can't wait to get it started and see if it really does float, hopefully next week when the weather is warmer

Well, its a one-year-only design and horsepower.
But to be fair, I'm only identifying it by the pic of the cowl (which has been repainted non-factory colors, btw). I guess it's possible someone has used the Javelin hood on a different motor, though.
You can confirm with the model number found on the ID tag attached to the transom bracket.
It should read "RJE-18".
